2009 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Shaun Lane will also be graduating this Spring.
Ah, I thought he had another year left. Either way, he should have been included in the 2 year exodus.
and Junior Andre Amos in his 4th year is unlikely but eligible to go pro this year.
and had an injury riddled career. Can he stay healthy and be a true contributor? If not, that's 10 right there.

The BPRT has discussed Moses behind the scenes on a number of occassions...but until we see some more genuine interest from either side we are reluctant to get our hopes up. I believe he also has some work to do in the classroom but I could be mistaken.

I know he's not even remotely on our radar anymore, but whatever happened to Trabis Ward from Ft. Lauderdale, FL? I know he liked us a lot but the RBs we have coming in are just rated so much better than him.

All-star team and player-of-the year selections are highly subjective and, if anything, tend to spark debate among fans in all sports. That said, it's difficult to make a case against any of the special awards winners on the Dispatch All-Metro football team.
Offensive Player of the Year Storm Klein of Licking Valley and co-defensive Players of the Year Zach Boren of Pickerington Central and Josh Kusan of DeSales each powered his team to a state semifinal. All three were finalists for the Associated Press Mr. Football Award and earned Player of the Year in their respective divisions on the All-Ohio teams as well.
Coach of the Year Scott Bartholomew was responsible for turning a Logan Elm team that was 0-10 in 2007 into an 11-1 playoff qualifier in his first season. He was the state Coach of the Year in Division III.
Other players might have boasted better statistics, but Klein was the workhorse for a 12-2 team.
Klein rushed for 1,804 yards and scored 27 touchdowns in helping his team back to the Division III final four for a second straight season. Although he is expected to play linebacker at Ohio State, Klein played defense only part time this season in order to carry a hefty load on offense.
"We had high expectations, but even though we didn't get back to the state championship game again it was so cool to be able to go out with all of my friends," he said. "Believe me, I savored all the moments we had together, and I'll never forget them."
Panthers coach Randy Baughman said it's unlikely that the school will ever produce another player the caliber of Klein, a four-year starter who ran for 6,349 yards and scored 99 touchdowns. Both figures rank him in the top 10 in Ohio history.
"As good as Storm is and has been for us, he's still a team player by all means," Baughman said. "To achieve what he has achieved for four straight seasons shows what a special player he is. It seems like he's been here forever. I'll know we'll really miss him."

First-team offense
Running back, STORM KLEIN (Licking Valley) 6-2, 230, sr. With 1,804 yards and 27 touchdowns, Klein -- a four-year starter -- will finish in the top 10 in Ohio history in rushing yards, rushing touchdowns and points. He also excelled in limited play at linebacker, where he will play at Ohio State, and averaged 40 yards per punt.
First-team defense

Linebacker, ZACH BOREN (Pickerington Central) 6-1, 240, sr. One of the most dominant linebackers in central Ohio since Andy Katzenmoyer, Boren -- an Ohio State recruit -- entered a state semifinal with 161 tackles (92 solo) with 13 for minus yardage.
Back, JAMIE WOOD (Pickerington Central) 6-2, 195, sr. Named to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Wood -- an Ohio State recruit -- was rated the top recruit in Ohio in the preseason. "Jamie possesses a combination of power, strength and speed and helped us out in a number of areas," Sharrett said.

Ohio State looking for a quarterback

By Mark Gokavi
Staff Writer

Saturday, December 13, 2008

Ohio State, which already has 24 commitments to its 2009 recruiting class, is in the market for a quarterback, and the Buckeyes are in the running for these three prospects:
Tajh Boyd, 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, Hampton (Phoebus), Va.: He is ranked fourth nationally among QB prospects by Scout.com because of his playmaking ability as a runner and a passer. He guided his team to a Virginia state championship last weekend, throwing three TD passes in the title game. Among schools he is considering: OSU, Oregon and Penn State.

ESPN - Midwest Recruiting Blog

Of the 24 commitments, four are planning to enroll at Ohio State in January. Thus they can be counted back on the Buckeyes' 2008 class, freeing up at least four more openings for Tressel this recruiting season.
Tressel has four prospects in mind for those spots, and depending on how many of the four he is able to convince to wear the scarlet and grey, the Bucks could be poised for a spectacular finish.

Corey Adams to announce this weekend....possibly Tajh Boyd....will have to wait on Marlon Brown and Marcus Hall.

Also playing in the Under Armour All-American game is wide receiver Marlon Brown (Memphis, Tenn./Harding Academy). Brown has made official visits to Ohio State and Alabama. However he has January trips scheduled to Florida, LSU and Tennessee, so he will not announce his decision this weekend.

I'm guessing they're confusing Georgia for Alabama?

With the recent developments and misses of Adams and Sims, Hosley's lack of contact with the coaching staff and possibly bad news to come with Boyd and Hall, (I don't think we are in strong contention for the Marlon Brown sweepstakes either) does Edwards get his offer?

Hate to see the kids that have talent and really want to be Buckeyes go somewhere else and contribute against the Buckeyes in the future. 26 sounds like a good number.

I hope he gets his offer, Hall has a last minute change of heart and realizes he was born and bread a Buckeye, and they become the last members of a well-rounded class. We could really use one more DB in this class.

Poor vibes after visits by Telfort and Myles would create more of an opening than most of these, imo.
possibly bad news to come with Boyd and Hall
two players at different ends of the spectrum, re: OSU.

We don't play Tennessee until a decade after he enrolls.

You're assuming he has to change his heart. I wouldn't make that bet.

mendnesa, you obviously haven't been reading any of the BPRT's comments about Hall...every one of us is confident he will be a Buckeye. Stop worrying about what he says to the media...

Back to Edwards...
