2009 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

I think people are sleeping on Adam Homan already...if you haven't seen his highlights from the game against Mooney I suggest you check them out...he is the real deal, as a linebacker and as a fullback prospect...

I think people are sleeping on him, because they just assume fullback...They know he is a good player, but fullbacks don't get the pub like other positions...

I see... So you're saying that Adam isn't a "sexy" enough player? Is that your contention?

I agree that often the FB is overlooked... Couple that with the fact that Adam has been committed for a couple of months now and you have a recipe for him to be a little overlooked...
I've seen Adam play a few times and he's flat out impressive... Bigger and a little more physical than Ross was at this stage... Ross had a little better instincts and better lateral quickness, but Adam creates bigger collisions... When I saw him as a Soph. I immediately thought FB due to his tenacity and love for contact...

Geez, did Trotwood get another transfer? I thought Powell went to East Cleveland Shaw.

You are correct...I think I saw Shaw and my brain flipped things around (Michael Shaw being from Trotwood). Powell is from Shaw HS.

Scout.com: Hot Starts

By Jamie Newberg
National Recruiting Analyst
Posted Feb 21, 2008

Here we are 15 days after Signing Day '08 and there are already several teams off to huge starts for their respective '09 recruiting classes. This includes USC, who has nine commitments including one from the nation's top junior in quarterback Matt Barkley.

Continued...

Signing Day 2008 is recent history and old news. It's time to focus on '09 and there are certainly some major college football programs already off to hot starts in terms of commitments. USC is sitting on nine, while Texas, North Carolina and Ohio State each have seven. Texas A&M, Georgia and Florida State have six, five and four commitments respectively.

Six of the seven Buckeye commitments are from the state of Ohio. This group is led by defensive tackle Johnny Simon (Youngstown, Ohio) and linebackers Storm Klein (Newark, Ohio) and Jordan Whiting (Louisville, Ky.).

Much like I have done for some guys in the recent days, I am going to throw a name out there... but he is NOT a sleeper at all. He HAS expressed interest in Ohio State, although I was not sure if he warranted a thread or not. If he does, I guess we could just transfer this information over into his own then. Anyway...

Florida RB Lamar Miller
Miami (FL) Killian

Says the Miami(FL) are his #1 choice right now (well, then --- this is 2 weeks ago before the Bryce Brown commitment today) but is still waiting on an offer. Lists Ohio State, Florida, Clemson, Texas and Rutgers as schools of interest. Holds offers from Florida, Ole Miss, Georgia and Rutgers.

Lamar is the top RB in Florida. The tides are turning for us recruiting the state as well, especially down South. Getting Sabino and Howard from the Miami are is/was HUGE for the program. We have a very strong presence in the area as well and our staff has become VERY well respected by the coaches down there. He is interested in us and, unless there are some MAJOR grade/personal issues he needs to deal with first, I cannot imagine us not having interest in Lamar. Flat out, he's a player, a PTPer. Distance could be a factor here though....

Top RB in Florida expressing interest in Ohio State would most definitely warrant his own thread...

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't it still February of '08? Plenty of time for the staff to evaluate this kid...

This was posted in an individual recruit thread, and it could be said about many potential recruits, not just that particular one, but I'm glad someone said it. Guess I'm behind the times, but I just don't see the need to rush things. If someone is a slam dunk, legit stud, with the stats, measureables, and film to back it up, I'm all for getting the offer out. If not, then there's this little thing called a senior season, where someone goes out and plays their way into an offer. Unless there is a pressing need at a specific position, a little patience may go a long way into finding the "right guys." Just a thought.
