2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs Discussion Thread

Tonight's games:

Philly @ Pittsburgh: 7:00 EDT

NYR @ Washington: 7:00 EDT

Carolina @ New Jersey: 7:30 EDT

St. Louis @ Vancouver: 10:0 EDT

Flyers @ Pens will be the marquee matchup of this set (featured game on Vs.), but I think the 'Canes/Devils will be the most interesting series, followed closely by Blues/'Nucks. Even though NJ looked like it would finish atop the east for much of the season (even during Brodeur's absence), they looked rather ordinary down the stretch (4-5-1 last 10). CAR has a reputation for being a playoff style team, and could pull off the upset, if Brodeur can't regain his previous form. VAN has been consistent all season, and is fully healthy at the right time. STL, while beat up, has been on a tear, going 9-1-1 to end the season.

Rangers just took the lead, scoring off a rush seconds after killing a penalty. Theodore looking shaky in goal for the Caps. Where's Don Beaupre when you need him?

Screw that you need the 1998 version of Kolzig back

Theodore sucks. If he isn't taking his propecia he isn't that good and/or if you put a guy in front of him. Theodore likes guys and gets a hardon and forgets to stop the puck.

Just ask Johan Franzen

Nice to see some playoff conversation going tonight....

Great win for my pens tonight. They looked dominant in all phases. Philly seemed to be trying to rattle pens, but the Pens just look zoned in so far in the early going of the series. Staal, Kennedy, Dupuis, Gill, Eaton, Letang, Kunitz, and especially Scuderi really stood out to me in this game.

The difference between the pens/Flyers is the depth lol... Funny how everyone says Philly is the deepest team in the East.

The third and Fourth lines of the penguins are heads and shoulders better than ANYTHING philly will throw at them. The first two lines are pretty nice matchups, but the pens not only are far better on the 3/4th lines but look on defense as well.

Philly's got two defenseman essentially in Coburn, and Timmonen. The pens are rolling out Orpik, Gonchar, Eaton, Scuderi, Gill, and Letang. ALL six of them are quality, and that's not to mention the pens being able to roll in Boucher as well.

When your fourth line consists of Dupuis-Talbot-Adams you're going to be TOUGH to beat. Speed and grit everywhere on this pens team.

Oh not to mention Fluery>Biron.

I thought Gill, Kunitz, Eaton, and Staal were the best players tonight. They really stood out to me as well.

Canucks are looking good.. glad the Jackets didn't get them. But I'm not sure if I'd rather have Detroit or Vancouver.. Luongo is on his game.
