Some Gator History for the young guys. One reason why Miami hates us: the famous (or imfamous) "Gator Flop" episode.

Oh. And the sportscaster with the sofa cover sports coat is a douche.

OK, so he's got a haircut and wardrobe made for radio. But you're only saying that because he said that maybe football in Florida 'should be de-emphasized'.

De-emphasized in 1971? Did they play football in that state before 1980?

Fanbases at successful schools are a fascinating thing:

Six ten win seasons in seven years, 2-1 in BCS Bowls, 2 conference titles and 4 conference division titles earns him this:

What say ye Woof?

Side note, what's with SEC fans abbreviating all their coaches with CMR (Coach Mark Richt), CLK (Coach Lane Kiffin)? It's annoying.

Let not your heart be troubled. CMR (tee hee!) isn't going anywhere.

Every good coach faces a humbling loss - its the nature of the league and College Football in general.

Personally, in a year when we're not competing for a BCS spot - I like the fact that this is going to light a fire under his ass. I just hope he isn't painfully stubborn and awkwardly loyal to Bobo or Martinez.

***In reference to the Melodrama on DawgVent - I'm not concerned. Any large board will have it's "ZOMG WILL WE EVAR WIN AGAIN???" contingent.

TWLOCP will stay in Jacksonville through 2016, according to the City of Jacksonville, the Mutt Mouthpeice and Florida Athletic Department Public Relations.

Woof and Gator, I'd like to get your thoughts on this subject. Would you both like it to stay in Jacksonville, or alternate with the Georgia Dome, or maybe a 4-year cycle of campus match ups and alternating neutral sites?

Jmorb- my vote is jacksonville jacksonville jacksonville. My reasoning is 3 fold.

1. I flat out love the middle of the fall trip to warm climate. My fall is planned around it almost every year and the carnival atmosphere is fun. Past trips included rounds of golf at Sawgrass and deep sea fishing. It's awesome!

2. Despite the fact that Atlanta is more than capable venue to host the event - the dome isn't close to Altell in terms of surrounding areas and fun things to do. It is a step backward (and this is coming from a native Atlantan and Falcons season ticket holder).

3. I oppose the rotating campus plan because goddamit - it's not as fun as J-Ville.

As an aside - the only move I would consider would be a rotation with Tampa. It would make my trip longer - but that's a fun town too.

I like your reasoning.

But the statement above surprises me. Having lived in Jacksonville, and now in Atlanta, it's hard for me to compare the cities. And that may be a large reason why you feel that way. I can get the golfing at Sawgrass and deep sea fishing would be, and is, great for that time of year there. I'd argue that courses in the ATL area would compete at that level, and the fall weather would be a nice contrast. Both cities are great, but have their own distinct feel.

I understand exactly why you would love to plan the trip and vacation, I wonder if any Gator fans would feel that way about coming north, though we all know it's hard to leave Florida.

Ever since I've been a Gator TWLOCP has been in Jax. Partying at The Landing is a part of that tradition. It is the best tailgating of the year, for both fan bases. It would be like asking you to swap M*ch*g*n for Wisconsin in The Game, and then say, "Well - it's almost like it was - a Big-10 team as the opponent and all..."

You get the picture. That 50-50 stadium of liqueured up screaming fans is one of a number of great time honored traditions in college football. I would not care if we were losing almost every game like we did in the 70s and 80s, TWLOCP is a Jax game. Anything else is unthinkable.

Interesting points. I know there are sections of fans that agree and disagree with you both. The home-field advantage discussion is complete shit for either team. I feel Atlanta would be a great place to hold it as well as Jacksonville, but I do feel the connection and celebration of keeping the game on the coast.

To this point, I would say it may be more like taking The Game and putting it in the Browns Stadium in Cleveland, neutral site speaking. If TWLOCP went to campus, it wouldn't be TWLOCP.

Mike Slive is getting tougher on coaches who bitch about the reffing.

His memo says no more reprimands, now it's fines and suspensions. I'm thinking that means Kiffin will get a suspension and a fine, while somebody who hasn't already complained this year would only get a fine.

SEC stiffens penalties for complaining coaches

NEW YORK (AP) -- Southeastern Conference coaches will face stiffer penalties from now on for complaining about officiating in the media.

Commissioner Mike Slive told The Associated Press in a phone interview Friday that coaches who violate the conferences' ethics rules against criticizing officials in public will face a fine or suspension instead of receiving public reprimands when they first act up.

"On rare occasions over the last seven years there were several private reprimands and that took care of the matter," said Slive, in his eighth year as the SEC's leader. "On occasion there were public reprimands and that took care of it. It became clear to me after last week that I was no longer interested in reprimands and the conference athletic directors and university presidents unanimously agreed.

"For the foreseeable future there will be no reprimands," Slive added. "We will go right to suspensions and fines."

The decision by Slive comes after three coaches were reprimanded in the last two weeks, including Tennessee's Lane Kiffin. The coach received his second reprimand earlier this week for complaining about the officiating in a loss to Alabama on Saturday.

Slive said a memorandum was sent by the league office on Friday to every school making them aware of the change, which is effective immediately. With approval from the league's presidents and ADs, Slive will have full discretion in handing down punishment.

Cont'd ...
