Agree 100% about Lippert...he and Simon would make one of the fiercest inside/outside combos in recent memory.

The one guy from Ohio I think was overlooked was JT/TJ Turner...likely to have offers from OSU/UM/ND right around this class' NLOID.

Throw Adams in there and you have a great d-line class.

Yeah I forgot to mention Turner as well. I mentioned him yesterday, in who I thought might be in the top 100 from Ohio...

I am all doped up on pain medications from my surgery and a top 20 without Simon is ridiculous. Good to see they like Turner and Hall, plus it's early. Klein better not be '09s Mike Adams. I will say this though in Rivals defense, I really haven't seen any other top 100 guys in Ohio that isn't on that list apart from Klein. Still early though and I think guys like CJ Turner could end up on it. Chris Fields is a guy who I see rising and rising fast at the combines, ala Posey. He and Stokes would be a sweet duo to land. I think that's a pretty good looking list and I would LOVE to see us get involved with Cierre Wood. His sophmore film was sick.

You surely jest BestBuck:biggrin:...anyways, is this thread game for some '09 discussion? It's time for me to start getting excited about the '09 prospects and possibilities. So here is position by position:

QB- I would think we take a QB next year (assuming we get Pryor). Seems many are high on Payne though I have only seen limited film on him. Great size though and I would think we would be in shape to take someone more raw. Barkley is a longshot, though he is very talented. Sheppard is going to be sick but I highly doubt we get a real look with Pryor. I would think we would have a good shot if he were recruited as an athlete, being so closely related to Eddie George. Top 100 Rivals Tyrik Rollison lists interest but I haven't heard much about him.

RB- Looks like there are some decent prospects out there, though many are under the athlete category. I'm with Wad in thinking Mason is best suited on defense, though he is a possibility at RB. Turner from Massilon looks like a star but also looks best suited early on at DB. Bryce Brown is extremely talented but is a longshot at best. I would love to see us get involved with Cierre Wood and he is so talented both on offense and defense. Caper is intriguing though I'm not sure how interested he is. At an early glance it looks as though OOS may be a possibility and we'll probably have to wait for some names to surface.

FB- It looks like the staff may want to take a FB or LB/FB mix in '09. I'm not sure if Studlien would qualify but he, Marrow, or Homan seem to be good options. I think Marrow could be a future bulldozer at FB if we are willing to use a scholly on a FB.

WR- Looks like we are in on some real talent for '09. I would love to have get Chris Fields and Je'Ron Stokes. Both are highly rated and appear to have good potential left. Dion Sims looks like a stud and could end up at TE. On top of that, we have a nice little pipeline to Orchard St. Mary's. Corey Brown from Gateway is one that Bob L really likes and I would suspect that we will be recruiting him.

TE- Nobody has popped up for '09 quite yet it seems. Hazlett is an intriguing prospect at 6'8 and I think the TE from Ursuline is for '10.

OL- We look to be pretty set for '08 here but a couple '09 studs sure wouldn't hurt. I really like Rick Harris early on, though I'm thinking he may be a camp offer. Leon Hill from Ill. popped up recently as interested in OSU and he is worth looking into at 6'6 330. Marcus Hall figures to be a top OL for '09 and you would have to think he is an OSU lock being from Glenville. Cameron Iluicci also seems like a good prospect. More names should pop up be we apear to be in on some good ones early on.

DL- Looks like we could have a great DL class for '09. Simon has to be in the top 3 in the country at DT (I think he could go toe to toe with Forston, Thompson, and Tyson this year personally) and he loves the Bucks. Corey Adams would make a great tandem with Simon and it doesn't hurt that we were his childhood favorite team. Jack Lippert looks like Gholston Jr. and I would love to see us land him. Craig Drummond from Illinois just popped up in the Top 100 as another top DL interested in us. Marvin Fellows is a DE who has great size and will likely get a look at camp.

LB- Hands down the most stacked position for us in '09, epsecially with Storm Klein and Jordan Whiting already committed to OSU. I am really listing all the other positions summaries to get to this one. I really think we could end up with 5 LB types in '09. I love Klein's burst through his tackles and Whiting has excellent athleticism. I have seen some sophmore film on Studlien and I could see him being an OSU recruit. Now with his junior year over, it sounds as if he may be the real deal. Count me on board for wanting Studlien in '09. Here is the shocking thing though...I like Julius Ferrell slightly better on film than Whiting, Klein, and Studlien! Ferrell has astounding athleticism for his size and is just nasty. I don't know how he wasn't a top 100 player on Rivals really. I also think Ferrell is a good LEO candidate. Then you have Dorian Bell who is just a great talent you would never pass on (though the Hale situation can't have helped us much with him I wouldn't think) but I could see him at other positions. Beyond Bell, you also have Petey Smith from Florida with an offer and Quanthony Fletcher from Krop who wants to follow Sabino and Howard to OSU (remains to be seen how highly sought out he will be though). Then you have Jelani Jenkins from MD. and Willie Ferrell from FL. who just showed up with OSU interest on the Rivals 100. That Adam Homan guy doesn't look so bad either. Needless to say it should be exciting to see how '09 shakes out at LB.

DB- A lot of instate names thus far but I haven't been able to watch many on film. I really like C.J. Barnett...he has great size and instincts. Reminds me of Malcolm Jenkins quite a bit. If he has improved on his speed, an OSU offer wouldn't surprise me at camp. Storm Timson looks to be a prospect to keep an eye on. Justin Turner appears to be the main man in Ohio for '09 at DB, if that indeed is his future position. It also appears we may be in good shape early on for Darrell Givens from Maryland...great size and I can't wait to see his film. Denicos Allen also could be a sleeper at safety, though I think he is a LB in a safeties body. My main man at DB would have to be Darrell Mason though. I think he has future star written all over him.

Overall: It is way early but I thought I would go ahead and throw out an '09 wishlist of about 20:

QB: Devontae Payne OH
ATH/RB: Justin Turner OH
FB: Mike Marrow OH
WR: Je'Ron Stokes PA
WR: Chris Fields OH
WR/TE: Dion Sims MI
OL: Ricky Harris OH
OL: Marcus Hall OH
OL: Leon Hill IL
DL: John Simon OH
DL: Corey Adams AZ
DL: Jack Lippert PA
LB: Storm Klein OH
LB: Jordan Whiting KY
LB: Julius Ferrell OH
LB: Dorian Bell PA
DB/ATH: Darrell Mason OH
DB: Darrell Givens MD
DB: CJ Barnett OH
ATH: Quanthony Fletcher FL
- Plus, I can't wait to see the interest we get down in Florida after some more names start to pop up after this year's success.
