2009 Polls - Regular and Pre-Season

So we drop two spots for every win and three spots for every loss. Better keep winning, better to drop out of the top 25 in week 10 than week 7. :roll2:

I don't really care about the polls though, what I want out of this year is a win over Michigan, a Big Ten championship, and a BCS bowl win. We're probably not ready to play in the NC anyway, too young.

I'm sure we'll only drop one spot when we beat Penn St.

Oklahoma, Penn State, and Ole Miss have no business being ahead of us. LSU and Boise State are questionable too.

Well, as far as records are concerned you have to place LSU and Ole' Miss ahead of us. I mean, they are both unbeaten, can't really complain about that. Same goes for Penn State, they've taken care of business, albeit against shitty ass teams.

Fucking Choklahoma shouldn't be above us, I'll totally buy that. Tulsa? Seriously? I'm betting they lose next week to TTech.

Boise should absolutely not be above us, based on the fact that they play a bunch of girls gymnastics teams. Bullshit.

But, objectively, the Bucks have played three games, two against teams of no consequence (Both are 1-2, Pitt destroying Navy hurt, Purdue is looking worse and worse, and they beat Toledo...and Colorado sucks) and lost to the one good team we played. There's no way they can put us above unbeaten teams like Ole' Miss or LSU. And it makes me sick to right that, I fucking HATE the SEC.

Long goddamn season, as far as I can tell 'Bama, LSU, Ole' Miss and Florida all will take care of each other. Really, I'd put my money on either 'Bama or Florida making it through, but with a loss somewhere.

Texas has Oklahoma and Missouri to get through. Oklahoma still has Miami, who is looking good but will run out of steam.

Cal will lose, as will USC(again).

We will take care of Penn State.

So, with all these teams playing each other, if we take care of our business, we'll at LEAST get a BCS, possibly slipping into the NC. I realize its a longshot, but who the fuck knows? O H!

No, you don't. There is no rule you have to rank unbeaten teams ahead of teams with losses. But by all means reward teams like Ole Miss and PSU for scheduling like bitches.

Navy is a team of no consequence? 6 straight bowls and 8+ win seasons means zip? Pitt beat them by 13. They were favored to win the Big-East. Navy will probably lose a couple more games. They're still more than likely going to a bowl.

Toledo is a cupcake. That's 1. They'd still stomp anyone on PSU's schedule.

I think OSU dropping has more to do with USC falling as far as they did more than it does anything else.. my first thought was "they don't want us ahead of USC." My second thought was "wow, it looks like the pollsters aren't nearly as impressed with USC's victory over OSU as they should be."

8-10 is more appropriate..

But, I can't wait to play Penn State, and I can't wait for Ole Miss to play somebody.

They won't be playing Florida unless they make it to the CCG. Right now they play two ranked squads.

Those guys sure have perfected that win-win situation in the sec.

And his week 4 ballot...

DOUG LESMERISES? TOP 25 BALLOT
1. Alabama; 2. Miami; 3. Houston; 4. Cincinnati; 5. Florida; 6. Boise State; 7. Texas; 8. LSU; 9. Cal; 10. Michigan; 11. Auburn; 12. UCLA; 13. Virginia Tech; 14. Florida State; 15. Penn State; 16. Missouri; 17. North Carolina; 18. TCU; 19. Oklahoma State; 20. BYU; 21. Oklahoma; 22. Ohio State; 23. Iowa; 24. Mississippi; 25. USC*.
* ? I mistakenly left 2-1 Washington off my ballot after the Huskies beat USC. Washington should have slotted in at No. 15 and then dropped USC out of my top 25. The Huskies were No. 24 in the AP poll, and, thankfully, the 10 points that should have come from me would not have made a difference in their overall ranking.

If Mississippi loses, it proves how great the SEC is.

Would you disagree that they've built themselves a pretty impressive bubble?

Bama doesn't even have to win their bowl game against a severely overmatched opponent. Their signature wins over 6-loss Clemson, 5-loss LSU, and 3-loss UGA were enough to not need evaluation of any post-season humiliation.

Bama's regular season opponents registered 6, 10, 10, 7, 3, 6, 4, 7, 6, 5, 8, 7 losses. That averages out to about 7 season losses per opponent.

They give credit to teams that have won the best games. Well, at least they are trying to. Cincinnati and Auburn get "WTF?'s" from me.

Looks like what BB73's ballot might look like in the BP Poll. With OSU a little higher :wink2:

This is why this poll is no longer a part of the BCS equation. Half these hacks don't even take it seriously and even fewer pay attention to what's going on outside their own media market.

Actually, the AP asked the BCS not to use the poll, not visa versa. That fact notwithstanding, all of the polls are retarded. The coaches' poll has an obvious conflict of interest and the Harris poll is basically the AP poll with some persona non grata thrown in, as far as CFB is concerned. It's amazing that a billion dollar industry is run in such a slipshod fashion.
