2009 BPCFFB League #2 Season Thread

Is there a good argument for having return tds as defensive scores, particularly kickoffs? Punts are loosely based around defense, particularly with safe coverages, blitzes to block punts, etc... but kickoffs are pretty much an offensive play.

I don't care about the points this week, I just think that system would be well served by changing. I honestly missed the return td thing in the scoring post.

Defensive scoring is provided for entire units because there is no scoring system provided to draft defensive players... At least not in casual leagues (I've been in a league where you start a lb, db, etc. Its tedious and a waste imo)

You don't draft eric berry or takeo spikes. You do draft Brandon james or Brandon saine. I think saine's owner should get his return tds, not the osu defense owner.

I don't have an issue with the defense getting the points for Punt returns, but I agree that kickoffs really shouldn't count. That being said, I gave starBUCKS the points for the return that Texas took for a TD, only because we haven't really talked about it. If people want to change the scoring after this week, I'm up for a discussion on it.

IMO, defenses should get points for punt returns only (not kickoffs). If you have a player that returns a punt or kickoff, then they should get points as well.

Yes I'm kind of arguing with myself, but I'm making a case for a week 2 change.

Its normally classified as Defense/Special Teams... it's been the standard in fantasy football since I've played. It keeps things simpler. I don't care about it personally, I lucked out this week... but live by the sword die by the sword. I do think we should keep things as is, as we drafted under these rules.

good point. i guess it really wouldn't be fair if we changed things now. we'll just have to keep this in mind for next year (finally got through the off season and we're already talking about getting through another one :shake: )

Commish ruling: Keep 'settings' the same for the remainder of this year. Next year we'll change them.

starBUCKS brought up a good point.........what are your thoughts on negative rushing yards? Since we haven't really discussed it, if a player had negative rushing yards for a total, I just left his rushing yards at 0. Since this isn't a stat that effects how everyone drafted, we can easily adjust the scores for week 1 and continue to use negative rushing yards for the rest of the season. Let me know what you guys want to do.

As we discussed, it should count as minus points. Like i said, if someone rushes for -1 yards, and then 5 yards their total yards are 4 or .4. So, if someone has a a negative one week it should count against -.1

I would agree. If a player has negative rushing yards, then he should get negative points. I can't see this happening very much except if someone has a player from USC:biggrin2:

Second straight week I started the wrong thursday night participant (this time a WR in an option attack) :smash:

Did anyone see how bad the injury to Dwyer looked?

Dwyer's injury just a stinger - College Fantasy Football Insider

According to Jonathan Dwyer the injury that limited him to seven yards on five carries against Miami is "just a stinger."

We hope Dwyer is right on this one and there isn't further damage. We will continue to keep an eye on Dwyer's injury status and availability for next week's game against North Carolina.
