2009 BP Poll - week seven

Well, for starters I'm trying to figure out how Houston could be 19th and 25th at the same time.

 Good catch

Sorry, "brah", but I guess I don't take kindly to some kid who starts ripping on other people's polls without posting one of his own.

Oklahoma has been more impressive in their three defeats - largely played with a backup QB - than some "ranked" teams (which obviously impress the hell out of you) beating up on crap teams with their full lineup.

Boise State is a classic example. Oklahoma toyed with Tulsa, beating them 45-0 without Bradford. Boise hangs on 28-21 and I'm supposed to believe there are only 3 teams better than Boise?

Meanwhile, several "ranked" teams have built gaudy records playing garbage while OU has lost 3 games (all away from home) by 5 points - total - against teams that are 17-2. Is it really that outrageous for someone to believe they might be the 25th best team in the country? Is it really that tough for you to consider that possibility? Does it really need to be explained to you?

Apparently, the answer to all three questions is "yes".

If we want to get into ridiculous caricatures of somebody's position, I'll play along for one last post. I'll keep it short because I can tell a kid like you is thin-skinned.

It's great that you are impressed by a team that can't win a big game. BYU was dominating Oklahoma before Bradford went out, and maybe that was BYU playing out of their minds, and Oklahoma playing poorly. My ranking has nothing to do with beating up on cupcakes and more about who I think would win in a given matchup. You're right though -- Oklahoma does know how to lose impressively. I guess that personally I think there are at least 25 teams they would lose impressively to. There's nothing I've seen from them to think they wouldn't lose impressively to those 25 teams.

Yes, Boise looked very unimpressive in their victory over Tulsa. I guess where you and I differ is that I feel that the good teams are the ones that can play poorly and still win most of them, whereas you think that the good teams are the ones that know how to lose every time they face a team with a pulse.

Hope to see you continue to follow my posts around here though.

You Left Coast folks are supposed to be able to distinguish between all those ranked non-BCS-AQ conference teams that start with a B. :wink2:

Only 25 ballots...let's get them in people.

Surprised to see Auburn get 9 votes after losing to Kentucky. Otherwise I think the poll looks about right, considering the week that just happened.
