I also have BYU behind OU, by a few places. It was a close game and if Bradford was not hurt, I think OU wins. If I found out that Bradford was out for the year, I would probably have OU lower, but since it looks like he is coming back, I feel like OU is still a better team. Actually, once their #2 QB gets more reps with the first string 'O', they will still probably still be a bit better, just not top 5 in the country better (without Bradford, anyway).

OU is in trouble. BIG trouble.
their O-Line looked absolutely dreadful. they'll be using their 3rd string QB soon if that ain't fixed.

LSU and OSU dropped after winning, because both fell short of expectations for week 1.

I'll post my ballot when I have a bit more time later.

To those who ranked BYU below Oklahoma: Did you watch that game? BYU was missing players too. They only traveled with 7 OL and their best RB was out. They went into what was a de facto home game for the Sooners and were giving them more than they could handle even when Bradford was still in there. And the reason why Bradford was out? It wasn't because of some fluke, it was because BYU whipped Oklahomas O-line ALL NIGHT.

People always say that the transitive property doesn't work in college football. That's wrong. The transitive property does work after Week 1. After that, maybe not so much. If you think Oklahoma really will be better over the entire season when Bradford comes back, then why not let them play a few more games to prove it instead of assuming it right off the bat? Right now the only thing that Oklahoma has done this season is lose to BYU, and the only thing BYU has done is beat Oklahoma. In my book, that means that for now BYU should be considered to be better than Oklahoma.

I completely agree with week 1 results being used when determining where to rank teams that played each other.

I don't know if they have to be 'considered to be better', but in my book, it means they deserve to be ranked higher.

BYU won by a point with OK missing their returning Heisman QB and a 1st round TE. One point. They didn't play all that well. I don't think they would've lasted had Bradford been in there four quarters.

Could be I suppose...though some would argue that had McGahee not gotten hurt we never would have beaten Miami in 2002 either...doesn't make our trophy any less real to me.

I understand that view, it's just not how I rank teams. I rank teams based on who I 'consider to be better' and go from there. That's probably why it's good to have many voters, so you can average out different methods of ranking.

If it were more of a decisive victory, that would probably change things more for me, but BYU played "balls out" and OU may have played their worst game of the year, and lost their star player and BYU only managed a one point win on a late game touchdown.

The end result is, on my poll, that OU drops by several spots and BYU goes up a few. But there is not enough evidance to flip-flop them, not yet anyway.

Well they definitely did that...of course, they also played their best game of the year...and only game of the year...

I see what you are saying, but the NCG is a little bit of a different animal. The NCG is a one game playoff where everyone agrees that the winner is crowned champion. Once you are in the NCG, you don't have to worry about the popularity contest anymore.

If that game had happened earlier in the season, I could certainly see why some voters might keep Miami ahead of tOSU in their polls, based on how the game played out. (I personally wouldn't, since I thought that tOSU had them handled throughout most of the game, but that's a different dead horse).

All that said, if BYU gets past Utah and TCU and goes undefeated, I think this victory should be enough to get them into the NCG ahead of any 1-loss BCS teams.

p.s. Oh, and I do see the potential conundrum with that last sentence, if both BYU and OU win out the rest of the season. All I can say to that is that if OU wins out that will make BYU's victory look better making a leapfrog later on more likely.
