2009-2010 Lady Buckeyes Basketball (6 straight Big Ten Titles)

Jim Foster's record in tOSU-TSUN games:

11-0

That means Thad (9-2) and JT (8-1) have to keep winning in order to not look bad by comparison. :tongue2:

But a combined 28-3 (90.3%) certainly works for me.
Thad needs to pick it up... 2 loses in 6 years isn't going to cut it! :)

@ Purdue 7pm ESPN2 Tonight

Brittany started the game on fire - 3-3 from 3 pt land to give tOSU a 9-0 lead. Purdue went man after a timeout and Jantel has gone to work. It's 18-7 at the 11 minute mark. Purdue was ice cold to start and missed their first 8 or 9 shots, but the bench has woken them up a little lately. Sammy has 6 assists already, Brittany 9 pts, Jantel 7 and Andrea off the bench for 2 on a great backdoor cut.

Buckeyes grabbed a 16-0 lead but only lead at the half, 32-29. Purdue got a big lift from their bench - the younger players like Houser and Ostarello had very good halves. OSU missed too many short looks but also didn't work it enough on some possessions and settled for some early shots. They've given up 6 offensive boards, too. Brittany has had a good half and Jantel was really the only other scorer. Sammy went to the bench with her 2nd with about 5 minutes to go. First few minutes of the second half could go a long way to setting a tone.

they are in a dogfight now....48-48 with 7 minutes to go....

Lavender doesn't seem comfortable but no one is helping her out very much....

and Purdue just took the lead with a hoop and a FT coming up...

48-48 7+ minutes to go. Turnover, Purdue can go up here. Trading misses - ouser scores on a drive and 1 on a clear out. Not a great call. 51-48 Purdue, both teams in the bonus 6:20 to go. Walker scores from Jantel, Houser drives again and Maria gets called for travelling - another poor call. Refs are primed to go upset here unless the Buckeyes can re-establish some order. Purdue up 5 now. Jantel makes both ends of a one and one. Foster goes big with Jantel, Andrea and Sarah all in. Sarah to the line now - makes both 1 and 1s. Down 3 now. Fastbreak turnover on the entry pass, Purdue ball. Rayburn scores over Sarah. Sarah drives and scores. Jantel blocks Ostarello's 3 but Sammy loses the handle. Rebound, feed to Sammy in traffic, held ball, Purdue possession. 57-56 Purdue, 2:58 to go, timeout. Nail biting time.

Explain please! Lavender 6-18, Prahalis 2-11! WHY are these the two forcing up ridiculous shots when Foster is screaming reverse the ball! Johnson is 4-5 and not even being looked at for a pass even though she's open on the wing. Not very smart play by the buckeyes second half!

Down 5, 16.9 seconds to go Sarah to the line. Way too many easy misses, slipshod offense, too many offensive boards - hopefully, a lesson learned. Sarah makes both. Foul Houser (62% and a frosh but having a monster game) - :13 to go. Makes the front end - makes the second. Sammy makes a 3! 7.8 seconds to go timeout OSU. Versyp sees the defense, calls last Purdue timeout.

Ugh, that hurts. Prahalis misses an easy lay-in at the buzzer that would have sent it to OT. Shouldn't have come to that - terrible rebounding by the Bucks tonight. Even so, I think at home we win this game by 10 and Purdue fouls out three players. :(

Uncontested layup! On to Thursday night, better play better team ball against Minnesota or it'll be another ugly game. Come on girls, you're a better TEAM than that. You have a talented TEAM, it takes more than 2 superstars to win a ballgame. Look at the boxscores tonight and see where changes should've/could've been made!

Nutzball - who, exactly, do you think he's reversing the ball for? Jantel. He would be the idiot some people call him if he didn't do that. She didn't finish as well as usual tonight and Sammy shot it poorly. That's a calculus that will get this team - or any team - in pretty serious hot water every time. Brittany played great tonight (her best defensive game IMO) but they were not helping off her and she didn't get the same looks (except in transition, twice) since Versyp called her first timeout.

The TEAM missed too many easy ones tonight, gave up too many second chances and let Purdue hang around until they came up with enough to win. It's been known to happen at Mackey Arena.

Hopefully it's a painful lesson learned that will help this young team grow - but it's certainly not cause to wig on our two best players. Anybody - yes, especially Jantel or Sammy, but ANYONE - makes one more shot they usually hit and we're in overtime right now.
