Today at 2pm the Buckeyes will take on Bowing Green in Columbus. The game will be shown on the BTN.
You could say this is a warm up for the ladies nit starting thursday night.
I'll be glad to see just how good we are this year.
Go Buckeyes
Go Buckeyes
Go Buckeyes
You sure it's on BTN? I've got Ohio State playing for the Men's Soccer tournament title on at 2pm on my guide. Maybe they'll be streaming it online?

Way to go Buckeyes.
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Jantel Lavender had 23 points and 14 rebounds to lead No. 3 Ohio State to a 91-72 victory over Bowling Green on Sunday in the quarterfinals of the Preseason WNIT.It was the 39th career double-double for Lavender.
Tayler Hill added 19 points, and Samantha Prahalis had 14 points with eight assists. Sarah Schulze had nine points and Tracy Pontius had 18 points ...:oh:

Whoa. Tayler Hill!!

9 points and 9 boards her first game.

19 points and six assists in her second.

Gotta be pumped about this young lady.

And I hate to gripe about a recurring theme, but since this is the ladies BBall thread...

I considered going to today's game and checked ticketmaster (I will not buy through them but they do let you know what is available) to see where my seats might be. They were selling seats at the end of the court - seats that I hate in the poorly designed hybrid Schott. Those are the seats they gave me 5 years ago the last time I went to an OSU Ladies game and I decided to pass today just as I have for the past 5 years. (For the record I would take ANY seat in St John over those seats.)

Stay with me now. I passed on the game because no good seats were available.

Today's attendance: 2,975.

There is a serious problem here.

We were at the game as well, so a few thoughts...

Lavender and Prahalis are picking right back up where they left off. This team is so much more fun to watch than any OSU women's team I can remember.

HILL! Wow, she does not strike me as a freshman at all. She looked so comfortable out there as a part of our offense, and took the opportunities that were given.

Our guards did a very nice job of rebounding. Good effort all around.

Stokes' speed impressed me on the break.

We still struggled when BG sagged all five defenders into the paint. Gotta be able to shoot teams out of that zone, or better teams will still give us fits.

BG was a better looking team than I expected, but the score was a little closer than it could have been. At one point we were running a team of Moeller and 4 freshmen, and while the game was already decided, it wasn't just to mop up the last minute.

The crowd stunk. It was probably 70% OSU, 30% BGSU, with the upper deck blocked off and half the lower bowl empty.

How full were the seats on the sides? Is there really a reason to force people to the ends other than keeping us from peeing in the PSL seats?

Eh, I'd say they were mostly full on the sides in the lower part, at least toward the middle of the court. Probably legitimately sold out in those sections. Doesn't mean they're active fans, though, other than the occasional cranky old guy standing and yelling at the refs. The ends were deserted, and the corners were kind of sparse.

My wife and I are fortunate enough to get PSL tickets from relatives that don't go to the women's games, and we're almost always the only two in our section. :(

Those that can manage to get to the games surely love tOSU women's basketball and might possibly be seeing OSU history being made. Those that can't come.....I am sorry. Those that decide not to come are missing something exciting and excellent and possibly the best we will ever see.

Oh yes Oh8ch, I don't see how you could possibly enjoy the games anyway, considering the location of your head.

There were closer to 5k there for the game against BG than the 3 that the attendance said...

But if you get an end seat it is very easy for a womens game to move into a better seat. The ushers don't look at your tickets, as long as if someone actually has those tickets, you just move over.

But it would be nice to start seeing more people come out to these games. They are the #3 team in the country and very fun and exciting to watch...

They play tonight, should be another fun game to watch...

Lavendar - 12 of 13 for 30 points. Ouch.

Be patient with me, I have only been to a little over 500 OSU basketball games (many of them ladies) so I am still getting the hang of it.

As for it being the best we will ever see, there was a young lady named Katie Smith who could light it up now and then. And there is also next year when Lavendar should be at her very best.

That said, there is no question this team is special and it is worth every effort to go see them. I just have a personal hard on for the Athletic Ticket office and 30+ years of abuse. And I absolutely believe - based on conversations with fellow ticket holders over the past three decades - that their policies have hurt attendance. Vacant PSL seats in particular is just plain silly and unnecessary.

With that I will do my best to let it go.
