The kicker is Mo Wells. He has play making ability we just haven't seen yet. And we are running out of time to see it. He needs to have a banner year.

Mo Wells is, IMO, better than his stats let on. he has his moments, but has yet to string together a full game. I believe that he would do much better if the coaching staff would let him run to the outside, where he does better. I understand why the staff wants all HBs to learn how to run between the tackles, but Mo needs to have a good year to have a shot in the draft. Call him up a few sweep/tosses and screen passes, and I'll bet he has his best year.

Anybody that has played RB knows that when you have a bum ankle the competition knows this and tries to roll it. Heck I had guys trying to roll my knee and I wasn't even injured. Its dirty as hell but players do that stuff in the pile.

I think 2008 is better because of depth. There was a dramatic dropoff when MOC left the game. OSU was a totally different offensive unit without him in. I'm not saying Beanie being hurt would not slow our offense down in 2008 but it wouldn't shut it down like when Moc was out of games in 2002.

One aspect about Clarett's game that's often underlooked is how much emotion he brought on the field. The crowd was a couple notches more excited when he was in and the OL blocked better. The opponents notice, and often they feared Clarett for that. Beanie started doing that after he got into the midseason form, and on his way to doing that against LSU when we stopped running the ball. He is capable and should be one of the emotional leaders of the team.

I agree with your point about the buzz surrounding Clarett. The two biggest factors in that were: A. he had a huge performance in his first ever game, and B. after week three he was always a game time decision. Also, after the Bellisari years, the fans would have gone apeshit over anyone who gave us a chance to win every game. With the success of 02-06, and Smith's ascent to Buckeye Legend, there wasn't a dire need for a savior, as there was in 02. Beanie had a chance to create that kind of mystique with his magnificent TD run in the 06 UM game, but the BCS debacle and his slow start in 07 sapped the momentum. His great performances in 07, most notably Wisky and UM, propelled him back to mythical status, but again, he was expected to start and finish every game. Clarett was a more outwardly emotional (perhaps immature) young man. Beanie seems to be on the quiet side, but also a leader. I liked his reaction after his first TD in the UW game. He just ran straight to the bench, no celebration, no high fives. It sent a message that the game was not over and there was still a lot of work to be done. After that play, the Buckeyes dominated. I expect that this year, Beanie will be one of the emotional leaders on and off the field.
