Those are not the standings I am getting from this site (or from watching the race):

Tour de France - 2008

Or are you just doing standings from those in the vBet?

Did you read the part you quoted? :wink2:

I added the leader's name. Besides him, it's just the guys in the vBet that are still riding.

The leader standings are meaningless right now. The mountains always sort out the true leaders. That's when the real fun begins! Just enjoy the chaos right now.

Thanks for the advice. I've been watching the tour for years. While the mountains will normally determine the winner, the standings after an individual time trial are not meaningless. Time lost now is the same as time lost in the mountains - although there will be larger time differences in the stages in the Alps and the Pyrenees.

And I posted the standings so that every few days the folks that placed a vbet will be able to see any changes in the time gaps.

That's very considerate of you. Thanks! Greenies.

What? I can read.

It's the comprehension part I struggle with.

That said - isn't "field" in the lead by 12 seconds?

You could say that. But I was the only one that bet on 'Field', so nobody else needs to understand that. :wink2:

I don't really watch the Tour anymore. Part of it is the lack of contending American riders, but mostly it's the fact that I don't get Versus on TW here in Cincy, and I used to get it on basic cable in Dayton.

There are a bunch of reasons to be watching if you are a US homer.

A US team is in the lead in the team standing and they look very very strong (Garmin/Chipole)

A US team rider has been in the hunt for a stage win every day so far.

The US kids are having a good Tour so far.

The old guys (Hincape, Vandevelde) have had excellent results.

It has been a very positive race for the Americans, just no Lance.

I am having a bit of a hard time because no one is there that I know other than some of the second tier. Still sorting out who is going to be in the hunt for the overall.

Its growing on me, have not missed a second of the coverage yet. Will be planted in front of the tube for the next 3 weeks. It is my favorite sporting event other than a Buckeye game of course.

Bicycling=suffering. There is no getting around it. Many of us are masochists. And chicks dig guys in tight shorts!

and shaved legs. I have this theory that all woman secretly want to sleep with other woman, and a dude in shaved legs makes all their dreams come true. I am glad to be a part of the solution. Yea baby....

Time for jingoistic update....

After 6 stages one of the two American teams is in first and the other is one second out of second.

Members of American teams are first, fourth, fifth and sixth.

And two of the four honest to gosh Americans in the race are 4th and 15th.

Manuel Beltran is a dumbazz. I have to reiterate that you just can't fix stupid.

Marred by doping again, Tour continues
FIGEAC, France (AP) -- The riders in the Tour de France begin their second week of the sport's showcase event Saturday, but Spanish veteran Manuel Beltran won't be among them after testing positive for the performance-enhancer EPO.
The case has thrown a pall over the race, which was seeking to recover from a doping-marred event last year and 10 years since a series of drugs scandals on the Tour damaged cycling's reputation.
"When are these idiots going to learn that it's over?" said Pat McQuaid, head of the International Cycling Union. "They continue to think that they can beat the system. They're wrong. The system is catching up all the time."
Beltran was immediately suspended by his Liquigas team after the news of his positive test broke Friday evening. However the rest of the team still intended to race on Saturday. Last year, a positive test for Cofidis' Cristian Moreni led the entire team to withdraw.
