2008 tOSU Spring Game (4/19) & Practice Discussion

Extra, extra, read all about it

Normally, during spring or fall camp or the regular season, Tim May and I have written an Ohio State notebook every day. In recent times, as space has become more of an issue, often we only write one story a day, and notebooks sometimes bite the dust.
I used to save up notes I gathered from interview sessions. But now I'm realizing that a ton of notes end up never getting printed.
I am still saving a few, at least for now. But there are plenty more that won't see the light of day unless I get them in this blog.
So, without further ado, I thought I'd throw out some observations and quotes gleaned from the first 10 days of spring-ball interviews:
MARCH 26, Jim Tressel
--- He was asked how incoming freshman QB Terrelle Pryor ended up switching from his No. 11 at Jeannette, Pa., to No. 2, which he will wear this fall.
Tressel joked that it was a seniority thing. Well then, how come Jake Stoneburner got No. 11? He's a fellow freshman, after all.
Well, he's here already, Tressel countered, tongue in cheek. We all know that Pryor was going to get whatever number he wanted, unless it has been retired.

OK , I need to know what they will do for parking. A normal gameday stuation? If I get there early enough can i just park anywhere? near the stadium?
Will they shut off the streets 3 hours before the game? etc.

Didn't hear about Herron switching to #1. Christ, talk about corny... we could have #1, #2, and #3 in the backfield at the same time in a few years.

Assume that the parking will be identical with that for normal gameday operations. Arrive early. If you arrive early and the closer lots are actually open (instead of reserved for season tickets) you get a win-win. Frankly, with the events preceding the Spring Game I expect parking will fill up even more quickly than normal. Plus, your journey is longer than the locals so I can see a hike from a parking lot (or bus) in your future. Still, if you arrive early and have to park at Fawcett or similar that isn't that much of a hardship - and you have the chance to stroll around campus / stadium at your leisure.

Going to the Spring Game.

I been posting on BP for over a year now. Is there an official hand shake or a way of identifying other BPers when at the games? Could someone tell me if there's a certain color scheme or will we be just the brightest and best informed bunch of fans in the Shoe? Will finding a fellow BPer be easy? Inquiring minds want to know...

I'll be one of the old fart fans wearing a Buckeye sweatshirt, shades, bonoculars and toting a box of Depends. (I hate missing plays between P-breaks)

I'm not bringing my youngest daughter (friend of #12), but I am travelling with my nearly the same age brother-in-law who is a bigger fan than me and will want autographs of all the players.

Any suggestions on identification? PM me or post it. :osu:

I'm not aware of any secret handshake. Probably your best bet would be to just carry a sign to identify yourself. Then we'll come up and introduce ourselves.

Another ignorant question.. where do you go to get autographs, and when do you go?

Now I'll have to make a sign that says "I'm ScriptOhio" and introduce yourself to me. :) That was easy, I SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIND ME. Thanks, see you there!

No such thing as an ignorant question only the unwillingness to learn when and where. I have no idea, but I'll be with my brother-in-law trying at the end of the game. See you there too 3074326. Your sign ID will be like number at a police line up. Make sure you hold it in front of you and don't smile whatever you do.

I'll make sure to wear my orange jumpsuit on top of my Malcolm Jenkins jersey.
