2008 Rivals/Scout/etc. National & Regional Rankings

I don't know how anyone could not be familiar with our stance on the Devoe situation by this point...we have explained a million times that we are not going to allow baseless speculation on the part of BP posters about anything that has to do with Devoe off the field.

Seems like Sweat didn't have the year he had as a jr. Seems to be taking a hit in all rankings. Hopefully this had to do more with his injury than anything.
I think some of it has to do with the highlights from his game against Lucas Nix. Most show either Nix taking Sweat out of the play with the RB following him in for a TD, or Nix taking him out and leaving Yancich there to make a big stop. Either way, that film showed poorly for Sweat. I'm pretty sure that Rivals updated their rankings soon after that film came out and both Nix and Yancich moved up while Sweat dropped.

Which makes rivals look dumb. Notice how Nix wasn't taking Yancich out. They clearly respected Sweat more and felt he was more of a threat.

I'd say injury played more of a role than anything.

Bottom line: Took some local criticism this year because he wasn?t as dominant, but his shoulder was in very bad shape. Was only healthy in his last three games and he was back to being dominant.

A healthy Sweat is dominant. Very similar to AJ Hawks profile. Once AJ broke his leg most people cooled on him, later to their detriment.

Once again Boubacar Cissoko gets boned hard by the Rivals rankings and Nick Perry with a huge leap to #31

nick perry = uncommitted.
cissoko = committed since the spring.

of all the osu prospects listed, all the committed ones either stayed the same or moved down in the rankings with the exception of Posey.

I wonder if Rivals happened to watch Shugarts senior film or just put it on their website? Simply ridiculous that he is rated that low. Say he had commited to LSU, USC, Florida, Oklahoma, or any of the MEDIA HYPED other national powerhouses that offered him ASAP, I believe he would be ranked much higher. Good move to bump Good up to a 5 star though (no pun intended). Brown is a great player as well, questionable as a 5 star but it's not insane. I have a feeling that our guys in the AA game will earn their way up though.
