Having blown my dough on Athlon, Street & Smith, Lindy's, etc. there seems to be a reocurring theme......that the B10 is overrated. This is because tOSU and Meatchicken both were the flag carriers in last year's bowls, and both got decapitated--big time.
I truly believe that these guys are not going to 'come back' to honest ranking of the B10 until we do better in the bowls. Even though we beat two SEC teams (and don't forget it was our lesser versus their higher rated teams), we're hearing SEC forever, and how about the Big East?......
It's easy to pick USC this year (or every year for that matter), and always an SEC team. Phil Steele reminds me of those 'touts' in the advertising that proclaim how much money you would have won had you bet their way.....and have to point out that they took the long shot and won.
Personally, I like it that the Buckeyes have a fairly weak schedule to work out the kinks in the offense, and to break in the new DL. What were we in 2002? Thirteenth in the preseason polls? Coming from behind builds character. Let 'em rant. Tress & Co has the Buckeyes heading in the right direction, and he picks the recruits for their needs, not because they've got 5*'s. He'll take a 3* and coach them up to be All-American (see Kirk Barton and Malcomb Jenkins and James Laurenitis). I enjoy the mags too, and like to scout the opposition, and see where the Ohio boys have gone (and it appears that most of them are at least in the two-deep).
Remember, this is mainly mental masturbation, and opinions are like an a--hole, everyone's got one.
