2008 Ohio State Offense

I agree about the Wisky point, however, we have shown that past games don't matter. Look at USC:
They trash a good OSU team, then go out and get handled by a suspect Oregon State team...week to week things change, and PSU is good, but has to come to the 'Shoe at night.

Remember, Wisconsin lost to UM. They were hyped up for the OSU game, Pryor was making his first significant start and Wisky gave us a heck of a fight. But I think they played above they're ability that night. Just IMO.

I have faith in the Buckeyes, Penn State will eventually show some weakness. They sort of remind me of the OSU team of '06, except I'm hoping their breakdown comes in 2 weeks, not in the NC:)

Please remember gents, the point of this post was to show that things aren't that bad. I'm not sure we'll ever see a team like the '02 one, that really was a special group of guys. However, the model that that team set forth is worth looking at.

I don't want to get into USC too much, but I will say this:

USC lost to Oregon State because they couldn't stop the run. That shortened the game, and then Sanchez makes a mistake or two and they lose. We didn't have Beanie, and the team seemed really disheartened after the holding call brought back the TD. That game is totally different if Beanie plays, that TD doesn't get called back, and Todd doesn't throw that pick that gets ran back for a TD.

I know that all those things did happen, but I really believe that we are a better team than the one that showed up that fateful night. And that faith leads me to believe that we can finish strong this season. I'm hoping for some exciting finishes and a great bowl game. NC or not, this team is good, and I really hope the Sr's go out with a great season.

a win is a win is a win. But ugly wins eventually catch up with you.

Consistency is the watch word. Our line play last week was not up to our talent, our play calling was not befitting of a team with our talent, and TP looks like he's a little handcuffed.

In order to be successful, we're gonna have to:

open the playbook

stress consistency

Let tp know other people will make plays as long as he drives the bus.

Let the other players know TP can't be the only threat.

Sustain the Intensity!

The more you implement point #1, the less you will be able to achieve point #2

Anyone else having flashbacks to the 02 offensive line?

I remember every time MoC was in the game all of a sudden holes started opening up like mad, but when Mo Hall or Ross got some reps the holes just weren't there. Sound familiar to anyone..?

The blocking was no different, the quality of the running back was hugely different. Mo C always made the first guy miss.

Thanks for the stats. However, with the new clock rules resulting in about 12 or so less plays per game, the total yards stats don't mean too much. The yards per play/attempt are pretty telling though, as well as efficiency. Too many dropped balls and unrecognized open receivers to have an "efficient" pass offense.

Just imagine next year without Beanie. Yikes! :yow1: We better hope a running back steps up.

I trust Boom to do what he needs to do. He did pretty well back there this season when he had blocking.

But Beanie's loss is going to hurt, no doubt about it.

i just read over in the rumblings thread that 2 of the 3 freshman o-lineman are out for the year. that sucks.

Our "depth" at o line is pretty much non existent. Hopefully Rherring can get his feet back under him this week. He struggled a little against purdue. Maybe it was the fact that he played 3 different positions in three consecutive plays......

B.S. I literally just watched the 02 Michigan game and when MoC was in the holes were a mile wide and yet when Mo Hall and Ross ran it there was virtually no holes.

Pryor's completion percentage continues to be ahead of the curve, IMO. I think the offense is close to be being solid. I think stupid penalties, and poor personel and play-calling has hampered the team in scoring positions.

I don't know if it is just bad timing, or gameplan that Beanie never seems to be in the backfield inside the 20. When Terrelle has run the fake option, throw play it has ALWAYS created a wide-open player.

There have been some missed opportunities by Terrelle to take 6-7 yards on QB rushes, but he is just trying to let plays work themself out.

I think OSU will continue to slack in the yardage department, but I don't think this offense is far from an explosion if that makes any sense. I definately don't think turning the reigns back over to Todd would help anything either. Terrelle needs support behind him, not second guessing from coaches, players, and fans.

yea

the play-calling in "and goal" and red zone situations this year has been terrible to say the least

I want to say that "and goal" has turned into a FG more times than it has a TD this year, im not sure though
