2008 College (non-Big Ten) Baseball

Gators beat Half Ass U 6-1 last night, and then we squeeked by our NIT game, so all in all, a good day yesterday. FSU has a good ball club. We swept three from Auburn, only one from Miami series :mad1:, and the FSU win, so maybe we will be good enough with our new coach to make the SEC Tourney this year.

The Gators are 15-3 now, impressive. Also "Half-Assed U" () was 15-2 and ranked #3!

Aw, what the hell:

Gators defeat Seminoles

Florida (15-3) extended its winning streak to seven games by knocking off third-ranked Florida State (16-2), 6-1, in front of a McKethan Stadium record crowd of 5,719 fans on Tuesday night.
Junior left-hander Stephen Locke (2-0) kept the high-powered Seminole offense scoreless over 5.1 innings and sophomore Kyle Mullaney entered the game with the bases loaded in the eighth and recorded the final four outs to collect his second save. Kevin O’Sullivan became the first Gator head coach to win his initial encounter with FSU since Joe Arnold accomplished the feat in 1984.

GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!

7-5 LSU wins!!!!

From the LSU Scout Site

A big sixth inning propelled LSU to victory over in-state rival Tulane, 7-5, in Alex Box Stadium on a chilly Wednesday evening.
A three-run triple by Ryan Schimpf was the key hit for the Tigers (12-6), who ended a five-game losing streak. The loss dropped Tulane to 13-6 on the season.

"I don't know that a win was ever needed more by a team that I've coached in 26 years than tonight," said LSU coach Paul Mainieri. "I don't care who the game was against. The way things were going for us, we just needed a great win."

Florida (GatorZone)

Gainesville, FL - Following a 6-1 conquest of No. 3 Florida State on Tuesday night that stretched its winning streak to seven games, Florida (15-3/3-0 SEC) visits Western Division leader Ole Miss (14-6/2-1 SEC) for three games at Oxford-University Stadium at Swayze Field. The Gators and Rebels have not met since the 2005 season, when UM captured the regular-season series in Oxford and then upended the Orange and Blue twice in three meetings at the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Ala.

I wanted to go play in traffic after that game. At least our choke muscles are still working.:smash:

But, we took 2 outta 3 from them, and thanks to your Gators taking the Ole Piss series, we're only a game out in the West right now.

For six innings Friday night, LSU left-hander Blake Martin had silenced No. 18 Florida.
But when Tigers coach Paul Mainieri went to his bullpen during the seventh-inning stretch,
something happened to the Gators.

"We woke up," catcher Buddy Munroe said. "When it became crunch time we came through."
Munroe blasted a three-run home run to highlight Florida's six-run seventh inning, capping the
Gators' 8-5 come-from-behind win over the Tigers in front of 4,531 fans at McKethan Stadium.
Florida won its ninth straight home game and improved to 19-5 and 6-1 in the SEC. LSU fell to
15-9 and 2-5 in the conference. The teams resume their series today at 4 p.m.
