Georgia Tech just has train wreck written all over it this year, and I'm not sure if those people have the patience to allow Johnson to get his system in place when it's not the flashier shotgun version that other schools are going to.
You mean Ramblin' Wreck :wink2:

GT's bigger concern is no Jon Tenuta. Whenever GT won a game (which was not infrequent) it was despite their offense. Reggie Ball was the worst quarterback in the history of quarterbacks, and Tech fans will be the first to tell you that. Now it's not really guaranteed they'll be able to rely on their defense either. I think the fans are patient enough. GT is not really accustomed to prolonged success and they're kind of used to long losing streaks to UGA, so they aren't going to be calling for Paul Johnson's head after a year if they have a losing season.

FSU's Weatherford may have knee surgery, could miss rest of spring

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida State quarterback Drew Weatherford will likely miss the rest of spring practice with a knee injury.

Weatherford said Wednesday he has a slight tear in the lateral meniscus and is leaning toward having surgery that would put him out a month.

"We're probably going to make the decision by the end of the week whether or not I'm going to be able to come back out, and it doesn't look like I'm going to be, so I'm probably going to have surgery as soon as possible," he said.

He injured the knee during last Saturday's scrimmage when linebacker Dekoda Watson attempted to strip the ball as Weatherford was running.

Weatherford, a senior, has started 33 games in his career.

Coach Bobby Bowden said he wasn't worried about Weatherford potentially missing the rest of spring practice because it allows sophomores Christian Ponder and D'Vontrey Richardson to get extra repetitions with the first- and second-team offenses.

Cooper highlights Miami spring game

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) -- Graig Cooper and the Miami Hurricanes still have to wait five more months for the real games to commence.

Too bad, because Cooper looks like he's ready right now.

Cooper ran for 91 yards on eight carries and scored two long touchdowns Saturday to highlight the Hurricanes' annual spring game, the final official workout before training camp begins this summer. Miami's defense rallied to beat the offense 32-29, sealing the win with interceptions on each of the game's final two drives.

Georgia Tech's Johnson leaves team

ATLANTA (AP) -- James Johnson has decided to give up football and bypass his senior season at Georgia Tech.

Spokesman Dean Buchan confirmed Wednesday night that Johnson has given up football but will remain enrolled in school.

Johnson missed Saturday's scrimmage with tendinitis in his knee after struggling with the injury during his junior season.

Johnson's decision comes after receivers Colin Peek and D.J. Donley announced plans to transfer and another receiver, Greg Smith, was moved to A-back in spring drills.

Georgia Tech is expected to place less emphasis on its passing game in new coach Paul Johnson's option offense.

Clemson's Davis out for spring practice

CLEMSON, S.C. -- Clemson running back James Davis had shoulder surgery Thursday and will miss the rest of spring practice.

Coach Tommy Bowden said the arthroscopic surgery went fine and Davis should be ready for offseason conditioning and fall practice.

Davis, second on Clemson's career list with 3,130 yards rushing, was injured during a scrimmage March 13. He has been an all-Atlantic Coast Conference running back the past two years and led the Tigers in rushing all three years he has been with the team.
