After experiencing the Cooper years......for me.....the Tressel era is like a dream come true.......I have to believe that some of the posts in this thread and others on BP are from posters who never experienced Cooper and his annual "choke" against Michigan.

Instead of focusing on 41-14 and 38-24....focus on the overall product on and off the field.....I also like the numbers 6-1 vs Michigan and 4 Big Ten Championships.

Amen. Yes. Yes. And Yes. We'd like to win all of the time. We're all spoiled because of Tress and how quickly we forget. Going through virtualy all levels of school (In Ohio- mind you) as a Buckeye fan was horrible in the 80's/90's. Michigan fans were everywhere and let you know about it. How about when we played air force or somebody in something like the music city bowl? We may have even lost........Anyway- yes, we lost, but it just tells you how high Tress has set the bar if many are b-ing and moaning because we lost the National Championship during a "rebuilding" year.
Thanks Coach.

Off my soap box

Let us never speak of that Liberty Bowl appearance again. Thanks in advance. :sick1:

our quarterback talent was good, not great, this year.

We got into the season, and TB was doing okay. The coaches were even urging him to throw itup there and let the receivers try and make a play.

In the MSU game, Todd's wheels came off a little. We pulled that out, stumbled against Illinois, and then protected him against scUM.

My point is, we were well into the season and had qb problems, yet we still got into the NC game.

I don't know if Tressel should have been able to predict Todd having confidence problems like that.

11-2, all the other stats we have been going over, it's clear the man is our coach for many years to come.

2008 will be a good year, as will 09, 10, with the new crop of players coming in... Pryor or no Pryor, JT is just getting better, not worse, as a coach and I bet all my money that we will be in an NC game again in the next three years.

I'm at peace!!

Go Buckeyes!

there are always though "fire him" fair weather fans. its at every school. this was supose to be a rebuilding year, and look what he accomplished. plus this year i gain a level of respect for the man after the kind comments he made about LLoyd Carr.

I don't see how the media could possibly be hammering Tressel after this year. I mean come on we were predicted to finish what 3rd or 4th in the Big 10 with like 3 or 4 losses. In my eyes, this guy is one of the best if not the best coach in college football right now.

Fixing special teams problems, such as LSU's Ricky Jean-Francois beating OSU's Ben Person on this blocked field goal attempt, ranks high on Ohio State's to-do list for 2008.

Looking back on Ohio State's season after another decisive loss in the national championship game, how easy it is to forget the Buckeyes won a third straight Big Ten title and posted a fourth straight win over Michigan. It also seems like small consolation to point out how much Ohio State exceeded preseason expectations. And, of course, fans anxiously await news from the draft-eligible juniors.
So there's plenty to throw into the hopper today for Dispatch beat reporters Ken Gordon and Tim May:

Ray Stein's Mailbox: Accusations of conservative play-calling come back to bite Tressel again

Remember our rules, folks. I don't write these opinions; I'm only the delivery boy. Sir: It was with great amazement that I watched how the game has evolved. Imagine my surprise when I saw LSU line up with three receivers and a lineman out wide and then throw a pass to a wide-open tight end! Amazing!

I read those opinions yesterday morning... couldn't keep myself from laughing at some delusional fans. If Stein's actions hold true to previous years next Sunday he'll print mostly opinions that will back the Buckeyes and mock the idiots from this week.

One thing about the '07 season.

I know everyone ripped Ohio State for losing to LSU, but if you go back to Sept. the really over achieved. Everyone said the would finish 3rd in the Big Ten & that they would lose to Wisconsin & Michigan. Sports Illustrated said the would play Tennessee in the Capital One bowl on Jan. 1, but of course they had much bigger plans.

Ohio State, College Football, and War: Through the Eyes of a Soldier

Ohio State, College Football, and War: Through the Eyes of a Soldier

by Ryan Poetsch

I have written quite a few articles on this site mostly having to do with The Ohio State University. I was sitting down reading some of the other articles which have been published and it got me to thinking about my job and how it relates to all these die hard fans of College Football.

...

The main reason I felt the need to write this is that as I went through the bowl experience and read different fan sites, I got the feeling that college football is a large part of what makes our country so special.

As you may or may not know, I am a U.S. Army Soldier preparing for my third deployment to war. As I prepare to deploy, I look for the reasons to fight as hard as I can against the terrorists trying to take these very freedoms from us. I prepare in my head, a list of all the things I love and cherish about our country and I focus on those when I am having doubts or tough times.

First and foremost, I think of my family and all my fellow soldiers' families. Then I think of all the people before me who have sacrificed everything so that I can sit in the Shoe on a Saturday afternoon and listen to the crowd roar to "Hang on Sloopy", or as I walk by and scream O-H, knowing I am going to get a thunderous I-O in return.
