Sorry. What I meant to say was, I don't understand what you are trying to say in the context of this discussion. To claim that we will only need a "game manager" next year because we are so loaded is exactly what Texas fans were saying at the begining of this year. It's not correct.

I perfectly understand what you are trying to say. What I am trying to say is that your point is irrelevant to OSU in 2007 because of the system we run.

See my 1st post on the subject. Texas moulded their system to fit Young. We moulded Troy Smith to fit the system.

Different coaches...

Tressel has won without Smith... Brown hasnt won without Young...

Mack Brown:
2003 10-3 (6-1 w/& 4-2 without Vince starting)
2002 11-2
2001 11-2
2000 9-3
1999 9-5
1998 9-3

Yeah, he's been absolutely dreadful before Vince.

I was just now going to yet another defense of all of our all-time favorite quarterbacks: Steve Bellisari (OSU Records thread). I posted it in there, and I think it's relevant here, too.

Not to get too far into his defense, but I believe that his biggest fault was that we were all used to Joe Germaine. Bellisari was not Germaine. He barely belongs in the same sport as Joe Germaine. But I think he wasn't as bad as many people want to remember him to be. It was just a huge drop-off of talent from Germaine to Bellisari.

I hate to say it, but I can easily see Boeckman, or Schoenhoft, or whoever being demonized next season for not being Troy Smith. Troy Smith has become such a stud in Ohio State's backfield for the past couple of seasons, and I don't think any of us is ready to see the tremendous drop-off in talent.

Is Boeckman a little dinged up right now? I heard that somewhere, haven't seen confirmation. Did he make the trip to Iowa?

He made the trip but didn't dress for the game. It's the ankle that was injured near the end of the Cincy game. He took part in pre-game throwing drills wearing a jersey and sweatpants.

Pre-vince, his resume was similar to carr (can't beat rival), except with a few more bowl wins and no NC. I believe that's his point.

It's the same point used to attack Tom Osborne before he won a couple of national championships. I remember it being bandied about in regards to Bo because he never won a mNC. There's always complaints about coaches who "can't win the big one" until they win the big one...and then there's always lame excuses.

It's an inane point often thrown out by those who have no clue just how damn hard it is to go undefeated, win a national title or dominate a tough conference.
