Actually, no. Texas's changed the offense to suit VY. OSU changed TS to suit their offense. Big difference.
I don't know what you're even talking about.

2005 Texas. Vince Young is the QB that drives his team to a NC.
2006 Texas. Same team, no VY. They lose that intangible "thing" that Champions have.

2006 Ohio State. Troy Smith is the QB that drives his team _______.
2007 Ohio State. Same team, no TS. _____________________.

Different coaches...

Tressel has won without Smith... Brown hasnt won without Young...

I understand what you're saying, but sg11 brought up a great point about the schedule. With our schedule, we should definately be 8-0 going into the PSU game in Crappy Valley.

OK, I'll go ahead and play....

Boeckman deserves the nod. Taking a grey shirt (like JT asked him to do) to get a another years separation and paying his own way during that. Then redshirting another year. This guy has a lot of years under the sytem. He is also a very smart coaches son. He is exactly what JT wanted in his QB's...before Troy fell from the sky.

Unless another guy just lights it up next spring, Boeckman is the guy.

Witness how long it took Troy to convince JT he deserved the nod over Zwick. In most game situations I honestly believe JT would sit Troy today if he still had Krenzel on the bench.

Man, I'm not so sure. I think JT now realizes that he is probably watching the best QB tOSU has ever seen.

You know how good next year's teams are going to be? If the question of "who will be our QB next year" is borderline too soon....speculation of our 8-0 record going into Penn State is well past that line.

I know I went overboard, but I'm just trying to point out that we don't play a team of Texas' or the caliber of us this year next year. Our next QB has a bigger learning curve than McCoy had this year with playing us in game 2.

I probably overstated, but I will stick with 'many' game situations. Making the right judgements is still every bit as important to JT as a rocket arm, and Krenzel was the master. But it would have been up to Troy to complete the 'Holy Buckeye' pass.

I understand your point. I think Troy has worked really hard on becoming the happy medium between "ballin" and being a Tressel type QB. Krenzel did a ggod job of not losing a game for us, but Troy has time and time again won them for us. For the most part, I have been very impressed with his discission making.

QB reads. Most of Texas plays are QB reads. Young made the decition. Of course, when they lost VY, they had a dropoff. OSU's playbook is more complete. TS is adapted to the playbook. If TS played like VY, he would be "ballin'" by his own admission. That's the difference.

I believe the starter is Boeckman. I love Henton's potential, but it's awfully difficult after only one year (as the 5th qb)... especially when going up against an OSU-practice veteran in Boeckman.

Is Boeckman a little dinged up right now? I heard that somewhere, haven't seen confirmation. Did he make the trip to Iowa?

Sorry. What I meant to say was, I don't understand what you are trying to say in the context of this discussion. To claim that we will only need a "game manager" next year because we are so loaded is exactly what Texas fans were saying at the begining of this year. It's not correct.

Texas may lose only 1 game all year with this system you claim does not work. Outside of our buckeyes, when do they need more than that?

As for the parallel to our 07 season, I don't see a #1 osu type of talent on our schedule. UM will again be our toughest opponent. After losing Troy, Teddy, maybe Pittman, & a few strong OL... I'd be quite happy if we only lose 1 regular season game.
