COLUMBUS, Ohio - It had been 17 years since the Buckeyes' last Big Ten championship, and they had to wait just a little longer Sunday before winning it with four runs in the top of a dramatic seventh inning in a 4-0 conference-clinching victory over Penn State at Buckeye Field. The Big Ten title is the second overall and first since 1990 for Ohio State, which will host its first Big Ten tournament beginning Thursday, when the top-seeded Buckeyes will face the No 8-seeded Nittany Lions in a quarterfinal rematch at 7:30 p.m.

Northwestern finished the year at 15-3 in conference play to capture the No. 2 seed in the tournament. The Wildcats will open tourney play on Thursday, May 10 at 5 p.m. ET when they face off against No. 7 Michigan State, which ended the Big Ten season with a 7-9 mark. Ohio State will then take on No. 8 Penn State (5-9) at 7:30 p.m. ET.
On Friday, No. 3 seeded Michigan (12-4), the reigning Big Ten Tournament Champion, battles No. 6 Illinois (7-8) at Noon ET, while the second game of the day will feature No. 4 Iowa (10-7) taking on fifth-seeded Purdue (10-9) at 2:30 p.m. ET. The championship game is set for Saturday, May 12, at 1 p.m. ET, and will be televised by College Sports Television.
