I love how loaded OSU is with only 7 seniors in the 2 deep. This year could be great but, next year sounds like another title coming with all those returning and next years freshman added on.

Saine not doing kick-offs :(

Clifford playing CB just like the coaches said during his recruitment but, so many were following those experts saying safety at OSU. :!

Like someone else posted, I hope these freshman are talented and not just replacing average players.

Back in the day before there was an Internet (remember how much we were spending in postage Deety?) I used to wait on pins and needles for the issue of BSB that included the depth chart. First thing I always looked for was not how we were stacked this season - but how things looked two and three years down the road. I love young teams because of what they bode for the future.

Of the 25 names listed in the 2/3 deep for O we have 12 Sophs and Frosh.

Of the 25 names on D we have 16 Sophs and Frosh.

This is sweet.

i was surprised to see that we have flankers and slot receivers, but no split ends... i guess we're only running WRs on one side of the line this year...

If you go to the site you can change the formation and see different sets of players - including 4 receivers for the spread. Unfortunately, that particular formation has not been updated and still has last years players. There are three for the pro set, however.

Do you think Todd will have enough targets? We are reloaded!!!!!

Well, actually on that site, Todd is listed as the 3rd string quarterback when the Bucks go 5-wide. Nothing against Todd, but if that was our line-up with five receivers on the field, Beanie wouldn't be seeing much action if I was Tressel...

Am I missing something here? That 5 wide set has Troy Smith as the QB? is this 2006? Or is that your point?

what's the SQ stand for after names?

I could be wrong here, but I'm taking a stab at it anyways. It possibly refers to the last level of experience for that specific player, who earned a Varsity Letter. Hence, anyone with SQ would mean Spring Quarter, or to be more specific, spring football. Anyone with a 2V or even 3V, would mean they have actually played 2 or 3 years to this point with the Buckeyes. And HS meaning they are coming in from High School ball. No?

V = How many Varsity letters earned.

OHIO STATE NOTEBOOK
TODD PORTER

COLUMBUS Ohio State?s depth chart released Monday doesn?t differ much from the one that the Buckeyes entered camp with. Some second-team spots have changed, however.

Redshirt freshman Bryan Browning is the backup at both guard positions, and Andrew Moses is the second-team center.

A handful of true freshmen cracked the two-deep. Brandon Saine is listed at running back behind Beanie Wells and Maurice Wells. Dan Sanzenbacher is Brian Hartline?s backup at one wide receiver position. Taurian Washington is backing up Brian Robiske at the other. Devon Lyons and Albert Dukes were backups going into camp.

Continued...

Another way of looking at this. For next year, we lose seniors at only these positions from the current 2-deep roster:

Starting RT
Both FB
Starting Sam-LB
Starting Long Snapper

Now 2-4 guys will probably leave early (and let's not discuss that in this thread), but the numbers returning for 2008 are amazing.
