2006 NLOID Discussion (Open to All)

i agree with harrydangler that schwartz will be a star at osu. that video of him at QB running down the sidelines made me a believer. here's hoping the transition to DB for him goes well.

As far as Kurt Coleman, if he is as good as people think he is than obviously he makes an impact this year.

Antonio Henton will be special as well. You know what, this whole class is special. Can't say it enough times, GREAT JOB JT AND STAFF! You don't only recruit talent but players with character. Give me a quality Jim Tressel class over any John Cooper class, period.

I would have to say Dexter Larimore. While the comparisons of him to Tim Anderson and Fickell have been mentioned many times previously due to his wrestling prowess, I believe that with the current depth chart at defensive tackle, he has a great chance to see the field in the next year or two and be a fixture at that position for possibly 3 years. While he might not pile up a ton of stats or garner alot of awards, his ability to use his leverage and eat up blockers will really help these great linebackers that we just signed rack up the tackles...

Good call of Dex. He is currently ranked 2nd in the nation in highschool at heavyweight according to USA Wrestling the magazine. Which strikes me as amazing as i've never really seen any confirmation of him going to wrestle at OSU for sure.

275
1. Kenny Lester, 12, (Oviedo, FL)
2. Dexter Larimore, 12, (Merrillville, IN)

My votes goes to EVERY ONE OF THEM!!!! Great Class from JT and staff! I'm so excited to see what these kids can do down the road in a few years!!!
This is true.. you can never be sure, I remember being most disappointed about the Robiskie pick up last year, yet he proved to be the freshmen WR that stood out enough to get playing time. Thats why I defer my judgement to Coach Tressel, and will not voice my disliking for one of the pickups this season, as JT will only make an ass out of me again

I think I read a quote from him earlier today (as in I read it today, not that he said it today) saying that the OSU wrestling coaches were going to let him practice with the team after the football season. Something along those lines. Take FWIW.

Edit: Found it! From Scout.com's Ohio State Football Signing Day Tracker: "Larimore has also been quoted as saying Ohio State will let him practice with the wrestling team after the season. He posted a combined 90-5 record over the last two years, when he finished as the state runner-up twice."

i will never doubt a Coach Tressel class. The man has not only proven he can recruit and coach the talent but more importantly he educates his players not only on the field but through "life lessons" as well. He is a truly great coach and from everything I've heard, an even more outstanding person.

question: Has anyone noticed ESPN's Signing Day coverage. It was horrible and even worse they only mentioned Notre Dame every five seconds it seemed like. Also, guess what coach they chose to do a teleinterview with?
Well, fat Charlie Weis of course. I sensed an extreme effort on ESPN's part to pimp Notre Dame hard. Maybe I'm the only one who took it that way.

They also interviewed Mack Brown on TV in the segment I saw.

Solid Class just like JT and Staff. Now welcome to the next level freshman class. Just like anything in life the past is the past. My excitement as a fan is the concept of different speed categories. Any and some of these players will not play their High School position as they grow. The coaches seem to recruit that way to give them opportunity to grow. Tressel molds coaching to his talent and this group should give him more balance to coach. Again great work by this site and in the years ahead Coaches may become more reliant on this form of media than stars and biased media. We all read local papers across the country and as alumni and fans should have a way to help stream potential recruits for the gurus to check out.
