2006 NLOID Discussion (Open to All)

Remember Kylan Robinson? Apparently his mom, still back in Alaska, was delayed from getting to Florida by--get this--a volcano. So she had to drive to another airport (not the one in Anchorage) to get to Tampa and sign off on his Miami LOI.

The 'Canes fans are having a fit, BTW, over Preston Parker, WRs, and Coker in general.

I've been following recruiting since the late 90's and this has to be the smoothest year ever. We sealed up every position of need with quality recruits, no major drama with decommits or fence sitters, and we landed several big timers out of state that I wasn't expecting.

Overall, I couldn't be more pleased with how this class closed out.

Michigan picked up a ***** safety in Jonas Mouton. However, that doesn't solve their serious depth issues at corner. Steve Brown is a safety, and their only corner this year de-committed. They blame their lack of depth on whitner, ginn and king. What baffles me is that their staff is incapable of pursuing more than one CB. Other than Leon Hall, they are really hurting at CB. Maybe they'll move the tiny brandon harrison back to CB.

Anyway, they still have to prove they can develop talent. Besides talented prospects tanking during their years at UM, they also are notorious for moving prospects to the wrong position (eg Woodley, Woods... and apparently they wanted to move Mackenzie Matthews to OLB as well, proving they've learned nothing).

Anyone remember the last 5-star Safety Michigan picked up?

that baffles me how a program like Michigan has slipped so far in their DB recruiting. They already showed the last few years the "size over speed" choices they made in their DB recruiting was wrong and the corners they do pursue just seem to not get it done (Harrison, Hall, etc). Not that I am privy on Michigan recruiting seeing as I hate everything scUM, but I would think after the toastings their DB's got last year, corner would be #1 priority with several options in the fold in case of a decommit (Jai Eugene). Here's hoping their trend of having far less superior DBs, scratch that make that a far less superior defense as a whole, continues.
Would that last 5* safety recruit happen to be Prescott Burgess?

Enough about Meatchicken's recruiting triumphs, I mean woes.

question: Besides Beanie, which recruit are you the most stoked to finally see in Scarlet & Gray?

for me, it has to be Robert Rose. After seeing his performance in the Army AA game, i think he is an immediate contributor, ala Lawrence Wilson.

Kurt Coleman. Much more room for PT, and much more polished IMO (the coaches feel he is a five star). Rose is going to be a freak tho.

just a warning, I might dare to discuss another school's recruit later in this thread, seeing as its an NLOID discussion. Hazelton seems like a likely topic as the facts get sorted out.
