The Kern-Krenzel Award is named after the last two quarterbacks to lead the Buckeyes to a national championship. After this season, however, the BP Award for best college QB might have a new name: The Troy. As a senior, Troy Smith led Ohio State to a perfect regular season and a spot in the BCS championship game, in the process throwing for 2,507 yards and 30 touchdowns. Props to Troy for winning the eponymous Troy Award as the nation's best college quarterback!

The top finishers are set forth below, with number of first place votes in parentheses:

Troy Smith (Ohio State) - 240 (40)
Colt Brennan (Hawaii) - 132
Brady Quinn (Notre Dame) - 121
Pat White (West Virginia) - 50
JaMarcus Russell (LSU) - 49
Colt McCoy (Texas) - 38
John Beck (BYU) - 35
Brian Brohm (Louisville) - 30
Chad Henne (Michigan) - 21
Kevin Kolb (Houston) - 19
Erik Ainge (Tennessee) - 15
