No . 7 Wisconsin 89, No . 2 Pittsburgh 75 ? Alando Tucker had 32 points and 10 rebounds and Brian Butch a career-high 27 points and 11 rebounds to help Wisconsin beat Pittsburgh yesterday in Madison, Wis., and snap the Panthers? 21-game nonconference winning streak.

These next two weeks are when Big Ten basketball coaches scramble to sand away the rough edges and lock in on what their teams do best, getting a mid-season product pointed in the right direction for the arrival of conference play just after the first of the year.
It's the race before the race.
Even before some intriguing matchups Saturday, the Big Ten championship outlook still looked the way it did in October, when the media agreed Ohio State and Wisconsin would be the teams to beat.

Carl Landry overcame frustration and foul trouble to get 21 points and eight rebounds in leading Purdue over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi last night in West Lafayette, Ind.
The Boilermakers (10-2) remained undefeated at home this season despite cold shooting and weak rebounding in a rough and tumble game. Corpus Christi?s 7-foot center, Chris Daniels, led the Islanders (6-4) with 19 points and eight rebounds.

No . 1 UCLA 92, Michigan 55 ?

UCLA proved to be prepared for a highly regarded opponent. Michigan showed that it?s not ready for prime time.
Josh Shipp scored 18 points, Arron Afflalo added 17, and the Bruins overpowered oncebeaten Michigan in Los Angeles. Darren Collison added 15 points and eight assists and Luc Richard Mbah a Moute scored 13 points for the Bruins (11-0), who were in command from the opening tip. They made 33 of 56 shots, including 11 of 20 from three-point range.

Indiana State 89, Purdue 70 ? Marico Stinson scored a career-high 24 points off the bench and Indiana State surprised Purdue last night in Terre Haute, Ind. Gabe Moore added 18 points and six assists and Adam Arnold had 13 points and eight rebounds for the Sycamores (7-4).

So, given how this season has gone so far, is the athletic director concerned?
"Yeah, of course we're concerned, but you know ... it's still very early in the season,'' Martin said. "A couple of losses don't make a season. Talk to me at the end of the season.''

Can they afford to lose Manny Harris & Alex Legion in the 07 class? I guess things can't get that much worse for UM, but it will be an even longer rebuilding process if that happens.

That would depend on who they would bring in to replace him, but he has not gotten the job done up there and you have to wonder how long before they make a change.....

No . 4 Wisconsin 64, Georgia 54 ? Alando Tucker scored 29 points to lead Wisconsin (14-1) over Georgia (8-4) in Athens, Ga., for its 10 th straight victory.
Wisconsin?s start is its best since the 1913-14 team went 15-0 for the season.
Takais Brown led Georgia with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Marcus Landry of the Badgers made two free throws to make it 60-54, and then he iced the game with a three-point play in the final minute.

CHAMPAIGN -- Much like the Big Ten Conference football race, the men's basketball season comes down to just two teams.
Now that freshman big man Greg Oden has returned from offseason wrist surgery and Ohio State's class of rookies has made a favorable first impression, let's call the Buckeyes the team to beat in the Big Ten. After Ohio State and Wisconsin, there's a big drop to third in the league. Here's a look at the field, rated one through 11:
