I don't want him to play there, but I thought it seemed like there was a reason Carp worked out at TE. If hamby can stop false starting, and Hall can handle the blocking assignments, than hopefully we never see Carpenter leave the D. Otherwise, I see him being a dominant TE. As tho he wasn't versatile enough for the scouts who know he's a LB/DE hybrid.

Here's to hoping we never need Carp over there, but he is much stronger than hall (no idea about his blocking skills).

Did he play TE in HS?

Damn, that sucks. He looked like he had worked hard in the offseason too. Hope he gets healthy for next season. This makes sense though with Smith moving over to TE permanently and Carpenter taking some reps. They probably had a hard time fielding 2 TEs all the time.

What about Frost? I thought I read something about him having some discipline problems, is he out of the picture at TE?
Well, he would have to get his head out of his ass in order to see the ball so he could catch it. Man, I had such high hopes for this kid but I continue to hear only hype with no substance behind it. I hope he gets it together, with this Offense a TE or RB could make a killing in the 10-15 yard range. With his athletic ability, those 10-15 yard passes could turn into 25-40 yards.

I have a feeling Brandon Smith is going to be the one to step up.
That would be great. Another under the radar recruit stepping up to play for our buckeyes, now that doesnt happen often.:)

As for Rory, I hope he gets good results on the MRI and will be able to come back and help the team.

As for Frost, He needs to get his act together.

I read in the Columbus Dispatch yesterday that Bobby Carpenter had been taking some snaps at TE in practice. I dont know if this is legit or not but if Nicol is really hurt it could definitely explain why he was.

Carp did take some snaps at TE during the jersey scrimmage but only due to the lack of depth at that position. Frost needs to focus on doing things the right way before he will see significant time. Brandon Smith did some good things in the jersey scrimmage.

Yea...

Another possibility is young Lawrence Wilson perhaps.
No way man... Wilson has been getting rave reviews at DE, another postion we're not extremely deep at. especially now that Gholston has a broken finger, Wilson seems to be in line to get quite a bit of PT at DE this year.

As long as someone steps up, I don't care who it is.
I disagree...I would much rather Frost step up. Roy Hall may be the most versatile player on the field this year, next to Ted Ginn, and I don't want to see that taken away because he has to be moved to TE. I would rather Frost become the zone-stretching TE we all hope he can be so JT can continue to line up Roy at WR/TE/RB/FB...

Marcel Frost got rave reviews at DE as a freshman and we all know where he ended up. Not saying it's likely Wilson will move but I'm not sure it's out of the realm of possibility either.
