The incoming freshmen have a chance to make our special teams considerably better than last year. O'neal, Russell, Jenkins, Hartline, and Amos could make a huge impact on kick coverage. Hoobler and Welch will lead the way but these freshmen if given the oppertunity may make a name for themselves on special teams.

Boone and Cordle are going to push the upper classmen for playingtime. If we have people taking plays off and NOT holding their weight they will be finding themselves on the bench. These two young men have too much talent to not see some action.

I anticipate Mo Wells having the most impact of any of the incoming freshmen. Most of the other positions we are too deep. I think our running game will be by committee. This will give Wells a chance to showcase his wares. Hopefully he is 100% healthy and gives us a spark coming off the bench.

Worthington might get some PT in out DL rotation if he shows up big in fall camp. He wasn't the 4th rated DE becasue hes chopped liver. The film I have seen on Worthing is outstanding. A man amongst boys on the field. Hopefully hes too good to R.S.

I hope some of these guys get a chance to contribute. Maybe one will be a superstar. I think Boone, Cordle, and Wells have the best chances to shine because we are stacked at most positions.

I am interested to see what the coaches have to say about Wilson after fall practices. I hope he brings a more consistent intensity to college than I saw out of him in the Big 33.
When he wants to, he gets into the backfield quickly. There were a couple plays he quit on that he could have saved a big big play had he continued to attack on the play.

JamO and Mo Wells are the two that I think have the best chance of contributing. Also Amos is another that will challenge for a CB or Nickel guy IMO.

Are you allowed to get after the QB in the Big 33?

A straight 5-2 defense is mandated, and there's no zone defense or blitzing allowed.

Offenses must pass the ball at least 40% of the plays.

The DL wasn't allowed to play anyway but straight up. ( no slants etc. ) DE"s were allowed to rush the passer. For those people who were disappointed in the D-line or linebackers you need to understand that the restrictions made it diffacult to do much. The game is designed to be an offensive show.

I have a strange feeling that Mo Wells could actually win the starting job in camp.

Either way, I think he's going to step up and be a big contributor this year.

I sure hope so, but I don't want to expect too much too soon from him. Guys like Clarett don't come around too often (good and bad). And remember, he was here for spring ball to learn the offense and blocking schemes. He was a special talent and I don't expect we'll see a freshman that can contribute like that at running back until next year...(Beanie:biggrin: )

Why a 5-2, no one has used that defense since like '85 as there base D
I think the idea is that if you have 5 OL matched directly up with 5 DL, with no stunts, the chance for injury is less. It also promotes scoring through the air which is what most casual fans want to see. I on the other hand, would rather see them really go at it and play strait up.
