INDIANAPOLIS -- The NCAA men's and women's basketball tournament committees will release the Ratings Percentage Index on their website starting next week.
It marks the first time the NCAA will publicly release the RPI ratings, which are used to help select the postseason tournament fields. Updated rankings can be found at www.ncaasports.com from Feb. 2 through the end of the season.
"One of the committees' primary objectives over the last few years has been to increase the transparency and understanding regarding the process of selecting teams for the tournament," said Craig Littlepage, chairman of the Division I men's selection committee. "We think that announcing the results of the RPI ranking on a weekly basis has its benefits."
The committees decided to release the RPIs later in the season to give a clearer picture of where teams stand.
"We chose this point of the season to release the RPI because the composition of each team's schedule is comprised of a blend of non-conference and conference games," said Joni Comstock, chairwoman of the Division I women's selection committee.

And for my 5000th post:

I've updated the original post of this thread to have a link for the most up-to-date rankings of our team and stuck it.

As a buckeye fan, I have always felt a special connection to our basketball team, being a regular attendant for 17 of the 23 years of my life.

As a student and fan, I want to see more attention given to our hoops team by not only the general fan base, but by all of us buckeye "fanatics" here.

I know the football team will always be the athletic backbone of our university, but look out because our basketball team is on the verge of something monumental. I know a lot of us basketball fanatics can feel it coming.

Anyway, I want to thank everyone here for making this the community it is. I've thoroughly enjoyed getting to know many of you and sharing our thoughts relating to this wonderful university. I'm also glad to have been given the opportunity to help lead the Basketball Forum because I think we'll be getting a lot more contributers in here as we see our team's success growing

Very nice post.

I think after todays lose we will drop to around 20 or so. I think scUM and Iowa move into the top 25 and Wisky will drop out.

BTW does anyone else hate the letters RPI as much as I. They honestly don't mean a whole lot now, with as many as 10-15 games left for each team and they are really annoying. It is only going to get worse from here on out too.

1. Connecticut (20)
2.Duke (10)
3.Memphis (1)
4.Villanova
5.Gonzaga
6.Illinois
7.Florida
8.Texas
9.Pittsburgh
10.George Washington
11.West Virginia
12.Michigan State
13.UCLA
14.Boston College
15.Washington
16.Tennessee
17.North Carolina State
18.Oklahoma
19.Ohio State
20.Michigan
21.Indiana
22.Georgetown
23.Maryland
24.Northern Iowa
25.Colorado

Dropped out: No. 21 Wisconsin, No. 23 Louisville, No. 24 Syracuse, No. 25 North Carolina.
Others receiving votes: Wisconsin (15-5) 51; Iowa (16-5) 43; LSU (14-5) 35; North Carolina (12-5) 24; Bucknell (16-3) 18; UAB (15-4) 17; Southern Illinois (16-5) 9; Kansas (13-6) 7; Louisville (14-6) 6; Syracuse (15-6) 6; Miami (Fla.) (12-8) 5; Xavier (13-4) 5; Kentucky (14-6) 4; Nevada (15-5) 4; New Mexico (12-8) 4; Seton Hall (12-6) 4; Creighton (14-5) 3; San Diego State (14-6) 3; Air Force (17-3) 1; Iona (15-3) 1; Wisconsin-Milwaukee (15-4) 1.

Ohio State's ranking is right where I think it should be. Also agree with Michigan.

BUT THE JOKE OF THIS POLL!!!! Iowa not in the top 25?!??! They've lost @ #24 N. Iowa (in OT), lost @ #8 Texas, lost @ Iowa State (13-7), lost @ Wisconsin (most votes of any unranked team), and lost @ #12 Michigan State...all the losses are on the road, and none of those losses are against teams that you would consider bad at all.

Then take into account thier quality wins:

@ Kentucky (14-6)
#17 NC State
# 6 Illinois
#21 Indiana
#19 Ohio State

I'm not making a case for them being highly ranked...but they deserve to be ranked. They are also tied for 1st in one of the strongest conferences in basketball.

Couldnt agree more. I thought for sure they would be in this poll.

I know that these polls really don't mean a lot, but still I dont see how GW is ranked in the top 10. They have had two tough games all season. They lost to NC st. by 15-20(not sure on the exact number) and beat Maryland by 8.

The Big Ten has seven teams in the top 27, which means one of every four teams in the top 27 is from the Big Ten. If the conference's teams don't stop beating each other up, we'll have no one in the top 10 and a bunch between 15-30.
