2005-06 Official Big Ten bball Thread

Indiana State 72 - #16 Indiana 67

Apparently, Indiana State has beaten Indiana in 3 of their last 4 meetings.

Well as it looks now, The Dookies are looking like a not so good team, as they went to the wire with IU who lost to ISU and Va Tech who got clobbered by us.

I know it is early and anything can happen.

Just sucks to see a big ten team go down like this is non-conference. Loses like this hurt the big ten teams come conference time.

Sparty is taking it to #6 BC. Having trannon back has been huge (he was on the bench before, but not used until recently).

Well MSU finished the game, but they have to be the stupidest good team (if that makes any sense:biggrin: ) out there. What I mean is they win with their talent and not with their bball savy. They had so many TOs and stupid fouls to stop the clock down the stretch it was like they were trying to give the game to BC. If they wouldnt of shot so well in the second half they wouldnt have won. I believe at one point they were 15-17.

this team is very different than last year's... last year they had tons of talent but had guys that didn't give enough effort or lacked the killer instinct (Hill, Davis). This year they play with tons of effort but lack control & go-to guys at times. Davis has stepped it up a lot.

I love watching trannon play. he'll never be on an all-big ten team, but he plays on pure effort and athleticism. Watching him throw 65 yard spirals on target before the OSU fb game was just icing on the cake. That behind the back bounce pass was pretty sweet today.

its early, good teams are good in march not in novemeber and december. you just have to win enough games to get in. anyone who doesnt think izzo will have this team primed for a push in march is crazy. or unwilling to realize izzo is an elite coach in the ncaa.

Northern Iowa also beat Iowa...I know they are a good team, and Indiana State, also in the Mizzou Valley, is decent, but those are 2 losses by conference contenders that we didn't need.

Speaking of which, how about the conference? Northern Iowa, Creighton, Wichita St., Indiana State...looks like a pretty good league.

Always is. Wichita took Ill. to the buzzer where they made a buzzer shot, but the time had expired by about .3 seconds.

Well, Iowa is now rated #3...in Iowa, after dropping another one to Iowa State. I know some people thought they were frontrunners for the conference, but from what I'm seeing, right now, this moment...they suck.

ndiana coach finally conquers Kentucky -- in a big way
Dec. 10, 2005
CBS SportsLine.com wire reports

INDIANAPOLIS --- Mike Davis' Indiana Hoosiers finally found a way to beat Kentucky -- by being better inside and tougher on defense.
Marco Killingsworth had 23 points and 11 rebounds, A.J. Ratliff added a career-high 21 points and the Hoosiers' suffocating defense never gave the 15th-ranked Wildcats a chance as No. 18 Indiana rolled to a 79-53 win over rival Kentucky.
It was Davis' first victory over Kentucky (6-3) in six tries, and Indiana's most lopsided win in the 49-game series history. The Hoosiers (5-2) also won for only the second time in 12 meetings.
The Wildcats, who shot 31.1 percent from the field and were 2-of-27 on 3-pointers, were led by Rajon Rondo with 21 points -- most coming after the outcome had already been decided.
Defensively, the Hoosiers allowed only 19 first-half points, limited the Wildcats to a season-low point total and forced Kentucky to miss its first 20 3s.
That effort produced predictable results.
Indiana jumped to a 16-8 lead with a 12-2 run, then used a 9-0 spurt to make it 25-12 before closing the half with five straight points to make it 35-19.
The Hoosiers were so strong defensively that they went 7:56 without a basket in the second half and still led by 12. And when the offense did wake up, the Hoosiers scored 12 straight to rebuild a 49-29 lead.
Kentucky never seriously challenged again. A furious 18-6 rally got the 'Cats within 59-47, but the Wildcats could not get any closer.
Indiana shot 53.3 percent from the field, ending Kentucky's streak of 31 straight games without an opponent topping 50 percent.

Can't beat Kentucky, eh? Indiana coach Mike Davis manages to get a few critics off his back.
