We offered him yesterday. Fantastic shooter and a smooth player, not the quickest or most explosive guy but seems to move his feet well enough laterally on D.
As far as height, 6'5" in shoes seems fairly accurate from what I can tell (as in he's just barely 6'5"). I've seen some sites like ESPN list him at 6'6 and I can't buy that for a second, he was on the same AAU team with EJ Liddell and he's noticeably shorter than EJ, so I feel like there's got to be over an inch difference there at least, and I think EJ might be closer to 6'6 than 6'7.
I've also read conflicting reports on his wingspan. A couple Arkansas-based articles say he has a 7-foot wingspan... uh, yeah, no. I can eyeball that's wrong, for sure. I guess at one point in 7th grade it was measured at 6'10" and if I had to guess I'd say it's still 6'10. Still really good for a 6'5 guy.
I wonder if the timing of the offer signals Holtmann sensing an opportunity with Moody given the Arkansas coaching change, since Arkansas has been recruiting him hard for a while now and is the home-state school (he's currently at Montverde in FL). Razorbacks were 247's perceived favorite in the early going.
I do think Moody could be the answer at wing/3rd guard/SF. I don't love his level of quickness or ballhandling for the 1 or the 2 but it could work at the 3, and he certainly has better size/length for the 3 than Luther or Duane do. Jallow would only have one more year, and Ahrens would be a junior... and honestly we can't say how well Ahrens is gonna pan out.
I don't know if Moody makes much sense at the 2 given that we should have two more years of Luther and Duane, but obviously he could help there if needed since that's primarily what he plays in HS and AAU.
But yeah, if we get a player like Moody, I think we still need a PG or CG in the class.
