#2 UCLA vs. Ohio State, Dec 17, 2016

7-foot center Welch for UCLA has been out the last two games. Don't know if he'll play us. That doesn't hurt things, but they are fine without him. He's got a nice touch in the mid-range.

Odds are out later, but Bookmaker has the game as UCLA 88, Ohio State 84, based on tOSU's showings against Providence, UConn, and UVa. I think the line will end up being UCLA -8 or -9.

On a side note, this game is considered an Ohio State home game based on the number of Bishop Gorman guys that want to make Columbus their home.

Ohio State will not be favored in the eyes of the nation when it takes the floor Saturday afternoon. The unranked Buckeyes, a week and a half removed from a home loss to Florida Atlantic, will face No. 2 UCLA at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas as part of the CBS Sports Classic.

It’s an underdog mind-set that junior forward Jae’Sean Tate said they will embrace, but not one that coach Thad Matta is particularly fond of.

“I like being the big dog, I’m not going to lie to you,” he said. “Underdog for him, big dog for me, I don’t know how it works. Hopefully our guys, you sort of embrace that situation.”

Ohio State hasn’t been ranked in the top 25 since the 2014-15 season, and it hasn’t beaten a team ranked among the top two in the country since a 67-58 win against No. 2 Indiana at the end of the 2012-13 season. It does have a recent top-5 win, however, and it came in this same event last season in Brooklyn when the Buckeyes stunned No. 4 Kentucky, 74-67, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

The Buckeyes had No. 6 Virginia on the ropes on its home court earlier this year but surrendered a 16-point first-half lead and lost, 63-61. This game will be on a neutral court, but Tate said the attitude that carried Ohio State against the Cavaliers will help them this weekend.......

I'd expect this to be high scoring. Going to have to put up a good amount of points to have a shot here.
I think if they get into a high-scoring game with UCLA the Buckeyes will be doomed. I would like to see a game in the 70s because I just do not think that we can score with them.. Just do not have the shooters unless all of a sudden some of the guys get hot.

sitting consensus -8.5 w/ juice and total 161.5. i prob won't go near it at that number tbh..maybe an under if it gets bet up to like 165, or if UCLA steams a bit

i'm also a bball fish so..

kenpom must be on drugs. Predicts UCLA 84 Ohio State 78 UCLA favored by 6 according to him.. I would not mind some of that   I have no idea where he gets his analytics or whatever from but if Ohio State only loses by 6 points I will be very satisfied.

kenpom has liked tOSU from the get..had them #13 preseason

looks like some money came in on OSU, but nothing too substantial. i know next to nothing about UCLA so it looks like this is just a bad stylistic matchup for them and their big man out means quite a bit. OSU will be the best defensive team they've played.

i'm pretty surprised that OSU is just 4 possessions from flipping with the top teams out there with the inconsistency, but if they can pick one off today and hold on to the damn basketball i could be convinced
