Lol, oh, we know.

Again, welcome. What are your keys to the game?

I’m not so worried about our offense. I think you’re going to see us run it more than you’ve seen on tape (especially by TL; people don’t realize he’s actually an amazing runner because he doesn’t have to do it often). This will relieve the pressure from Young. We also don’t use the TE much, so there’s the extra blocker on him.

I read earlier in this thread that our o-line is inexperienced and not as good as year’s past. That’s simply not true. This is the best, most experienced, o-line we’ve had since the playoff runs.

OSU’s goal needs to be to stop the run and get to the QB, fast. If you can’t stop the run and start creeping up to do so, that’s bad news in the secondary. If you give TL time to throw deep, you won’t be able to stop the WR’s. You can have great corners, but a WR always has the edge because they know where the ball is going (and they are tall).

As for Clemson’s defense, I’ve read a lot that we have undersized lineman but that they are speedy; and the consensus is that they will be overpowered. While the former is true, I’m not so sure that BV doesn’t have a plan for this. We have more quality depth on the lines than any other team in the nation. OSU has played a lot of backups, but Clemson has done so even more than any other team. While one on one matchups may tire down individual players on the d-line, my hope is that the backups rotate in to keep the pressure up.

We need to get to Fields and force him to make mistakes. He’s a great looking QB, but he is also somewhat inexperienced. His 40:1 ratio is absolutely insane. Part of that has to do with the lack of throwing it in the middle of the field. He absolutely MUST change this during this game to have a chance to win. We have one insane linebacker (Simmons), but our other starter (Muse) can make mistakes in coverage. I think if you put a TE on him and let Fields throw quick slants, it will open up your run game and you’ll pick up yardage fast.

My hope is that the game doesn’t come down to special teams; because if it does, Clemson will lose. Our punting is absolutely atrocious and our place kicker is average.

I will say, I believe Clemson will end up winning. Somehow the coaches absolutely turn it up and surprise the competition in the playoffs. We’ve shown it year after year. Regardless of the outcome, the last few years have been an amazing time to be a Clemson fan. It’s not something I’m used to, but I dig it. I also foresee us being good for years to come due to the conference we’re in, and the top-notch recruiting. OSU ain’t going anywhere anytime soon either. Both great teams. Can’t wait for kickoff!

Great analysis and I agree with your assessments. If OSU gets going on the ground and they get in rhythm, they will score. OSU needs Young to have an outstanding day. They must pressure Lawrence and conversely keep the pressure off Fields. Easier said than done. OSU does have a solid Special teams - their punter might be the best in the country.

It is going to be a very entertaining game.

Listen, I was planning on being cordial when coming in this site. But the constant “fuck Dabos” really rubbed me wrong. Hope you all travel safe to the game, but I believe we’re going to win.
So you saw some homers homering and figured, why not pretend Urban and Day are the same coach.

Why stop there? Surely JT Barrett and Justin Fields are similar too, as are the defensive lines that Clemson will be deploying.

Deshaun Watson was obviously another Tajh Boyd last time around.

This game (football) is still won upfront and that will be the battle. Our Oline is super consistent, but no doubt this will be their biggest test. On the flip side, the only OSU game Ive seen was the the conference championship game. First half I was thinking Etienne will have a field day, but second half you guys stepped up. I do like our wideouts matchup against your secondary. If we can slow down running the ball and make Fields have to consistently throw the ball I like our chances. If we get chunked in the run game it will be a long day for the D. Muse our safety is a liability in coverage in a big way. I’d like to see him in the box more and let Isaiah Simmons play more coverage it would help. Dabo has proven that given extra time to prepare he is elite as is coach V. Day will have his chance to prove the same. Lots of unknowns. Etienne has 6 total 4th quarter carries all year.... you read that right. 6... if he gets going he is the best running back in the country. I’m excited to see if the years team is as good as I believe they are. I’m at practice several times a week and see it day in and day out. I truly do believe this team is better than last years. We will see, but best of luck to you guys.

No way you guys are better defensively. Guys lost what 7 of 11? As you said it all starts up front and you guys just simply aren't as good there.

Now I firmly agree with your offense being better though.

I think Entienne is one of the most underrated backs in CFB. 6 carries in 4th quarters total is amazing. Dobbins only had something like 24 carries in 4th quarters before Penn State but played (mostly) the entire 4th quarters since. OSU has a very good oline - they will need to control Clemson's Dline and get to the 2nd level for Dobbins, they will move the ball. Fields tends to hold on to the ball too long so if Clemson gets to him, it might stymie the OSU offense.

Man, this could turn out to be a barn-burner.
