So these are sort of a middle ground between replicas & authentic uniforms?

Yep. Material is a little better than replicas, numbers and whatnot are stitched on instead of printed on.

Material isn't as "clothy" as an authentic, if you know what I mean. Feels more silky, but it's a little thicker than a replica. Less meshy if that makes sense.

Had me going there, I thought you were talking about a 54 Jersey ... can't remember anyone on the buckeyes wearing single digits back then. If you're talking about the jerseys they threw out as "throw back" jerseys this November, then go with 2. It's the one that is probably going to grow in value faster than the others.

There were a lot of single digits worn back in the 1-platoon days of the 1930s, but no single-digit jerseys are listed between 1941 and 1966.

The last single-digit jerseys listed on the official site before the break:

1940:

#1 - James Daniell
#2 - Richard Fisher
#3 - Paul Sweeney
#4 - James Strausbaugh
#5 - James Sexton
#7 - Herbert Wynn
#8 - Earl Langhurst
#9 - David Scott

The first ones worn after that:

1967 - #9 by James Nein (makes sense phonetically :wink2:)
1968 - #3 by Jim Sensibaugh

So memory served me right. It's good to be an old fart!

And while I'm at it, shouldn't a "throwback" actually bear some resemblance to the real thing, starting with a gray helmet?

My mother-in-law was asking me after "The Game" last year what I wanted for Christmas and the first thing that came to mind was the throwback jerseys they wore. Little did I know that they weren't available until the middle of January:/ I ended getting #2 in the mail around Jan. 26th. I absolutely love it! Great marketing campaign Nike! Show Buckeye Nation throwback jerseys for the biggest game of the year and then miss Christmas by a month.... Genius.

Ok. As a marketing ploy I get it. And, truth be told it is a "throw back jersey" -- a throw back to November 21, 2009. And if that floats your boat, go for it.

But it's NOT a 1954 jersey. In fact it bears little to no resemblance to a '54 jersey or a '54 helmet or a '54 set of pants save the fact that it's red. gray and white -- well at least the pants and the jersey sleeves

Why not refer to it by what it is: an exclusively marketed jersey similar to ones worn by the 2009 - 2010 Buckeyes in their victory over Michigan?

That's not an insignificant item.

They were on Nike Store for a few days in early December. Gotta jump on them when available.

Why? They ugly. They bear little to no relationship to the 1954 jersey and they represent a marketing ploy which our favorite team agreed to be a part of.
