Look at it this way. Up until now the talk of sports world was how tsun lost to ASU and Oregon and how bad the B10 must be. Now they have something else to talk about. WV and SF. Don't delude yourself into thinking that SF is a powerhouse. They won on TO's. They gave up over 400 yards. They coughed up the ball 4 times. Their QB throws into double and triple coverage. That does not make for going undefeated.ScarletBlood31;944395; said:Couldn't be more wrong.
This game didn't show that the Big East is weak conference, in fact, it showed how much improved they are.
South Florida is the real deal. They already went on the road and beat Auburn, a #17 ranked member of the Holy Conference known as the SEC
( ), and beat West Virginia last year.
West Virginia may have not been overly impressive, but South Florida has a hell of a defense. I think this showed more that USF is ready to take the step up to the next level of recognition, rather than WVA being weak, and the Big East sucking.
I can honestly see either South Florida, or Rutgers (whoever wins the Big East), going on to a BCS bowl and knocking off a powerhouse from another elite conference.
Thought the same thing yesterday. I don't think they make that comeback with White, honestly. Give Brown the practice and game reps for a year and a half, and the gap may have been larger.Jaxbuck said:One more nail in the Pat White is a good QB coffin: The WVU offense looked about the same to slightly better with the backup QB in. The backup QB looked about as good as White.
1) That win isn't looking very good anymore. They got embarrassed the next week as well against Miss St.South Florida is the real deal. They already went on the road and beat Auburn, a #17 ranked member of the Holy Conference known as the SEC

It shows the conference is deeper... but the top of the big east has been greatly exposed.West Virginia may have not been overly impressive, but South Florida has a hell of a defense. I still don't know what Rutgers has done to deserve the national love they're receiving. They may be capable of this, but have not beaten anyone outside of the big east. Their best non-conference win was handing Kansas State their 6th loss of the season.I can honestly see either South Florida, or Rutgers (whoever wins the Big East), going on to a BCS bowl and knocking off a powerhouse from another elite conference.

Do you believe they merit having 50% of their conference ranked in the top 25 - a ratio only equaled by the SEC?ScarletBlood31;944395; said:This game didn't show that the Big East is weak conference, in fact, it showed how much improved they are.
Jury is still out on that as far as I am concerned. I think the voters will have serious questions to answer as the season moves forward. Questions like - parity or true excellent improvement in the Big East? As for BCS projections, it is highly likely that the Big East only gets their one bid filled - and probably by a team carrying more than one loss.ScarletBlood31;944395; said:I can honestly see either South Florida, or Rutgers (whoever wins the Big East), going on to a BCS bowl and knocking off a powerhouse from another elite conference.
