#18 South Florida 21, #5 West Virginia 13 (Final)

At least this time when Groethe threw deep into double (or triple) coverage it was third down. It will be interesting to see how close to the top 10 USF gets in the polls.

It'll depend on what happens in front of them, of course, but I'd say they jump to somewhere near.... 12

Hrm... The only team in the top 15 with a loss is Georgia, and we all know that Sec > Nfl, so odds are they will fall somewhere around 17-20. They can still pull this off, but they need to start passing the ball to their teamates.

I fully applaud South Florida's efforts here. I'll probably hate them five or seven years from now, because the default setting for all Florida schools is "hate their guts." But Florida, while being a fertile recruiting ground, no doubt can't support four uber-big-time BCS schools plus all the rivals that recruit in the state. I say it's no coincidence that South Florida's rise corresponds with the drop of Florida State and Miami down to very beatable levels. And seeing FSU and Miami lose games makes me go yay.

If I had to guess a number for USF before Saturday's games I would also say 12. West Virginia should fall well below that, but the voters don't like to acknowledge mistakes.

It's not like USF is beating out the Big 3 for recruits though. What separates them is coaching.
