'18 OH SG Dane Goodwin (Ohio St. Decommit, Notre Dame Verbal)

Had a pretty decent game against Gahanna. His stroke looks good, but he doesn't get any elevation off the floor and he needs some time to get it off. I imagine that is something he will work on. Took the ball the basket a few times with mixed results. There is a lot to like about his game, but needs to improve his lateral quickness.

Matt Sylvester is right next to him and he was always listed at 6'7, although the kid in the middle is supposed to be 6'11 290? Sorry the pic is so small, when I saw the article yesterday this pic was much larger within the post.

HOOPS RECRUITING: BUCKEYE COMMIT DANE GOODWIN TURNING HEADS IN THE EYBL

It has nearly been two years since Upper Arlington sophomore Dane Goodwin first arrived on the radar of the Ohio State men's basketball program. Scorching Medina for nearly 40 points in a scrimmage at the Ohio State team camp in June 2014, Goodwin, who was just an incoming freshman at the time, showed the top-flight potential that eventually led to an offer from the Buckeyes.

Some 23 months later, Goodwin, who sports No. 23, is an Ohio State commit and leading Nike's Elite Youth Basketball League in scoring at the 16u level, a feat that no Ohio player has done in recent years.

"[The EYBL] has been a good experience so far," Goodwin told Eleven Warriors. "There's a lot of good players and teams, which really makes you bring out your best to win games."

And win is all Goodwin has done. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard led All-Ohio Red's 16u squad to a championship in New Jersey during Session 1 of the league in early April. Much of that success is due to a few changes that Goodwin has made to his game.

"I think as a player I've gotten more competitive playing in these big games," Goodwin said. "I've used my size more this year and am getting in the post to take advantage of my height."

Scouts, players and coaches alike have also taken notice of Goodwin's development this spring.

"I think the biggest change with Dane is his confidence," Corey Albertson, owner and scout for Triple Double Prospects, said. "He's just got more of an edge to him where he believes that he belongs on any list of top players."

HOOPS RECRUITING: BUCKEYE COMMIT DANE GOODWIN EXCELLING IN JUNIOR SEASON

78136_h.jpg,qitok=xqYPEI3A.pagespeed.ce.lrpno7RLdU.jpg

Months after dominating on the EYBL circuit and leading his All-Ohio Red squad to a Peach Jam title, Ohio State commit Dane Goodwin has not slowed down one bit. In the first two weeks of the high school season, Goodwin is getting buckets - and many of them.

Leading all of the Central Ohio area in scoring, Goodwin is putting up 29 points per game at the moment, highlighted by a career-high 35 points in a win vs. Central Crossing last week. What's new with the 6-foot-5 junior swing man?

"[Feeling] pretty good," Goodwin said of the start to the high school season. "We have gotten off to a pretty good start so far. It's different this year because we can play faster with more of a four guard look and I think that's helped us with pressuring the ball and getting out in transition.

"So far for me, it's been a good year. I've gotten more touches and am scoring a little bit more this year."

GOODWIN CONTINUES DOMINANT JUNIOR SEASON
Flyin' to the Hoop is annually one of the high school events in the country and it was held this past weekend in Kettering, Ohio at Fairmont High School. We previewed the event last week as a trio of Ohio State commits in 2018 — Dane Goodwin, Justin Ahrens and Darius Bazley — were all in action.

All three were impressive, but perhaps none more than Goodwin, who led Upper Arlington to a dominant 62–34 victory over Garfield Heights, a state semifinalist the last two seasons.

Goodwin matched Heights with 34 points himself to go along with 13 rebounds as the Golden Bears improved to 12-1 on the season. According to 270 Hoops, Goodwin is averaging nearly 28 points per game this season as a junior.

Upper Arlington and Goodwin will square off against Wesson and Westerville South next Tuesday in a matchup of two of Ohio's top players and teams. For now, check out highlights from Goodwin's performance against Garfield Heights via NextUpRecruits.
