Bazley or no Bazley, why on earth were we not knocking down the doors for this kid from the outset? Or were we?

He's not quite a "sure-thing". Everything looks nice about him, but we missed out on his brother also (Larry Nance Jr. is now in the NBA after receiving, I believe, zero B1G offers)....I don't know how you don't offer a 6-9 son of an NBA stud, but no one really did. Pete and Jr. both have interesting situations...I think Pete will end up being a nice college player with good coaching, but his numbers and HS team's win totals simply don't scream big-time recruit. It says Richfield Revere (not exactly playing the highest level of competition in Ohio) suffered 11 losses, and Pete averaged 16.5 ppg. I'd like to see him in person against some good comp to evaluate him.
Bazley was the higher rated recruit by far. Pete did not have much interest from many big-time programs plus as was mentioned he does not play in a very good high school league and his AAU team is very low-key and not very good. He has also kept his recruiting very low-key. I do not have a problem with this late offer because of Bazley's "commitment" because they basically play the same position and we also have 2 other wings in that class. That evaluation might keep him from an offer 5-10 years ago...but when we are struggling to keep our head above water and missing on almost every target, seems like you go for a guy like Nance right away.

Can't say I have watched a ton of film or know much on basketball recruiting and I am just going what I see on paper, but 247 and Rivals both have Nance rated considerably higher (#39 for Nance on Rivals vs. #74 for Bazley, #34 for Nance on 247 vs. #55 for Bazley). Scout also has Nance 4 spots ahead of Bazley. Not sure which the staff had higher, but seems like they are at least comparable.

Nance has blown up on the AAU circuit this year, going from little-know prospect to the No. 34 player in the country. He's local, he's really good and Ohio State needs to get him in the fold. Nance is considered the No. 1 player in Ohio in 2018. We'll explain why he's not No. 1 on this list below.
He can be a transformative player for Ohio State with his size at 6-foot-8 and skill. His brother flew under the radar and made it to the NBA. That shouldn't happen again. He's strongly considering Michigan and Northwestern. Holtmann needs to act swiftly on Nance.
If not for a roster short on bodies in 2017, he'd be higher on this list.
If this is your opinion, I do not understand why you would prefer Hunter over Nance which you did in a post in the Basketball Recruiting Discussion.Haven't seen him play but it sounds like Nance might have the most upside of all the forwards in Ohio between 2017 and 2018.
