i would hope that an offered player who averaged 1 point (30% overall, 30% from the line) and 2 rebounds last year shows potential. :nerd:

Well since he's shot up to 6'10", given up on Tight End dreams, and played his first circuit of AAU ball, he's shown quite a bit of improvement and ability. I would mention that I don't think he's going to average anything outstanding this HS season, either. Moeller is not going to spotlight him all of a sudden because of the increased recruiting interest. You all know they play slow, methodical, disciplined half-court basketball 9 nights out of 10. They have two potential high-major guards in Miles McBride and Alec Pfriem, a transfer from Roger Bacon. Even if Hayes averages like 10 points and 8 rebounds a game this season, I think you are looking at a very good prospect, and those are around the numbers I expect to see. I'll be curious to see what his block numbers look like.

Really like Hayes' potential and upside. If he plays his freshman year in college, it would have to be more likely at the 4 position, if he would be ready to get minutes off the bench. He is not yet built for the college physicality of players at the center position.

Sometimes redshirting is the best decision a player like this could make. He could go to a Prep school that has great coaching, a strong strength & performance program and still play competitively in games against really good high level competition for one year.

I was looking up Ahrens' recruiting page on 247 and noticed he had dropped to the number 7 player in Ohio for 2018, so I checked the list to see who had passed him. 247 now has moved Jaxson up to the number 4 player in the state ahead of top-100 players Cohill and Goodwin, just behind Nance. Really getting noticed this summer. They don't have a number for him yet, but he's one of the highest risers in the country.

Hayes doesn't seem like he's going to rush into anything, though, despite some CB's to UK all of a sudden. UK staff compared him to Cauley-Stein, which is a fair assessment. Cauley-Stein was an athletic project who played three years in Lexington.

For some reason, 247 has now backed off Hayes a bit and moved him behind Ahrens for the seventh place spot in Ohio. Listed 230 nationally.
