#17 Ohio State 69 ,#9 Illinois 53 (Final)

brown better hope he doesn't airball any shots... last game the jeers from the crowd seemed to stick with him for about 3 weeks (it took that long before he had any rhythm from the perimeter again).

As stated last night by Bruce Weber, Illinois defends the 3 better than any team in the league and they do rebound well with Augustine down low. JJ Sullinger is the X-factor in this one I believe. He must get some boards and pull the double team away from Terence.

its gonna take more than jj, we need production out of the 3 and the 4. mostly boxing out. they myth about rebounding is that its not really about getting the rebound, but about blocking out. the best rebounding teams are so good that its not unusual for them to pick the ball of the bounce. theOSU got smoked on the boards last night. most of the time the team with more rebounds wins.

Last night was the worst something that really isn't new to this team. We've only outrebounded our opponents in 4 of the last 12, and 3 of those 4 came against Florida A&M and Penn State.

weakness: shot selection, streaky shooter, size (probably not the full 72 inches)
of note: all his numbers are basically the same as his first 3 years, but his shooting numbers have dropped of significantly.

4/5
#40 James Augustine 6-10 235lbs
13.3 ppg 8.9rbs 1.7 assists .614fg%
what to know-
strengths: high energy player, willing to dive and fight for loose balls, even with the little guys. good shooter and ball skills, will be used in the high post b/c of this. above average passer, unselfish. good on the glass, and blocking out. not a stat sheet type player, does lots of the little things.
weakness-tendency to play soft. also drifts out to the perimeter, sometimes to unselfish. low post game/back to basket game is average and can be inconsistent.

#33 Rich McBride 6-3 205lbs.
9.8 ppg 1.9 rbs 2.2 assists .401fg% .400 3ptfg%
what to know-
strengths: strong physical upper body. aggresive player. streaky shooter, but good shooter. brings a good shot and a physical presence to the floor
weakness: inconsistent play, streak shooter, inefficient on the offensive end. has a tendency to play 1 v 1 basketball.

8.3 ppg 5,8 rbs 1.4apg .497fg% .222 3ptfg%
what to know-
strengths: big player who can play the floor. good athlete, ive seen him play only a few times really, but played well against UNC, georgetown, wisc and indiana. has a tendency to crash the offensive boards.
weakness: young, very inconsistent in his game, sometimes shows up and has a big night, sometimes hell play 30 minutes and barely hit the stat sheet.

#55 Shaun Pruitt 6-10 240lbs
8.0ppg 5.8rbs .496fg%
what to know-
strenghts: had a monster game against IU. good defensive rebounder.
weakness: likely to pick up 3-4 fouls. has had a few big games, but some games where he was a non factor.

basically a wrap up of who youll see a lot of on the floor.
teamwise
strength-big, athletic good shooters and rebounders, gaurds the perimeter very well.
weakness-inconsistent and streaky.

overall very solid team and tough matchup, should be stregth on strength, i expect to see more of mr harris. he played a very good game last year against the illini and let sylvester concentrate on the offensive. should be a fast paced high energy game, my only prediction is that the schott will be rocking...

I am eager to see the Brown/Butler matchup. Last year Butler said Brown was the toughest guy he faced all year and you could tell he had trouble handling the pressure Brown put on him, and BFC played most of the second half of that game last year.

I think Butler is much improved so we shall see.

Should be a good one.
