Our chances might be slim for this talented point guard but we will get a visit from him in August and Matta can recruit. Ohio State has been recruiting him for a while but have just offered. In May he listed Ohio State as one of his final 8 schools.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State didn't get Markell Johnson. He committed to North Carolina State last week.

The Buckeyes still need to add a point guard in the 2017 recruiting class. So they extended an offer to one of the best in the country last week.

aul Scruggs, a four-star point guard from Indianapolis, was offered by Ohio State last Thursday, according to the

Twitter account of his AAU team, Indy Hoosiers. He's the No. 5 point guard in the class, and the No. 31 player in the country in the 247Sports composite ratings.

Scruggs is AAU teammates with five-star wing Kris Wilkes, who was also recently offered by Ohio State.

Unfortunately this isn't Lawrence North (Oden, Conley) or Warren Central (Offitt). North Central most famously is the home of Eric Gordon (or going further back, Jason Gardner). Though they are all relatively close.

Nonetheless, I think Matta can still have some pull in this city still. Wilkes is a heck of a player. Him and Paul Scruggs are my favorites in this state. Would love to see Kris in Columbus.

Scruggs is my #1 in this state. Elite scoring guard that would be perfect as a combo guard/wing with Matta.

Have 1 connection in Southport, but no promises on any insight. Kid is an elite talent, though. #Witness

Moved out to Napa, California. Appears to be an IU/Xavier battle with Xavier having the momentum right now.
