Fort Worth All Saints running back Daniel Gresham, long considered a ?soft? pledge to the Texas Longhorns, decommitted Saturday.

Texas? 2014 class is now down to 13 players. Gresham?s teammate, offensive lineman Demetrius Knox, decommitted from Texas earlier.

?It was a very tough decision. I talked to my family and felt like I wasn?t being honest with myself and I was trying to please people around me by being a Longhorn. I want to thank them for everything but UT isn?t the place for me,? Gresham told Orangebloods.com.

I know RB isn't really a need, but I would like to see Gresham in the class if they can make room and he is interested.

I think you could put him on the field at the same time as a guy like Ezekiel Elliott. Similar to Zach Boren's role early in the year, though I think Gresham is a lot more explosive and would bring more to the table as a runner.

Having a guy with his power and speed would be a real asset and give Urban the opportunity to run some interesting formations (like the diamond) if he has a mobile QB (Barrett?) and some speedy RBs like Elliott and Campbell.

I still see RB as a need. I think to be elite these days you have to bring in 1 elite RB every year. I think HS RBs are seeing that they can sit back for 2 years honing their skills/hitting the weight room and only need one break out year to bump their draft stock. Reference Eddie Lacy sitting behind Trent Richardson, and Richardson sitting behind Ingram.

As to Gresham, it looks like he has some speed but his power and ability to run through the tackler is most impressive. Meyer will always get guys with speed, but I would love to see a guy with this kind of power in Scarlet and Gray running between the tackles. #1 RB IMHO

I'm going to have to disagree. We don't need a rb in every class in our offense, with the pivot and having a mobilr qb getting a number of carries, rbs in our system won't get 25-30 rushes a game. The rb doesnt have as much value. There's a reason meyer has never had a 1000yd rushing true rb, because the position isn't as valued because he has multiple guys that run the ball and throws off the defense.
Alabama is a bad example because they run a pro style offense and use a primary rb. Gresham would be nice, but he's probably a long shot and were paying attention to him because of his Og teammate that we really want. We already have a power rb for the foresseable future in dunn, and ball has some power himself. I personally don't think gresham leaves the south.

yeah, the only reason for that is that Hyde missed a few games last year.

Agreed. But even if he got 1000, it wasn't like we ran him into the ground. He still was very fresh by the end of the year. Gresham would be better served in a spread offense where he's the primary ball carrier. And idk how well he is in space and catching the ball. Gresham is a grinder and power guy. I hope he and knox aren't a package deal like I've read on 247 because that wouldn't exactly be in our favor
