Your posts indicate otherwise. How soon you forget your posts that "this doesn't seem right," "these other so-called incidents" etc.

Agreed on both counts. Pardon me for interrupting your rush to assume the worst.

Hmmm... "on the surface, this doesn't seem right." And I meant that. Still do.

As long as his standing with the team was made perfectly clear to Gardner while he was repeatedly screwing up this summer (1st strike, 2nd strike or whatever) than I am fine with the "worst case scenario" that OH1O is rushing to in the first place.

I just think we're assuming a lot there. 1) That the staff made it clear to him when they offered him a scholarship what his requirements would be going forward; 2) That his requirements were different than others; and/or 3) That he repeatedly screwed up this summer.

The only thing we know is that he was charged with OOB. We don't even know the degree of the charge or the circumstances. As to other "incidents", that could be anything. It could be nothing.

And because of his relatively low status, I doubt too many people are going to care to find out. But I do. This kid wanted to be a Buckeye. Worked hard to be a Buckeye. And now it's looking like that might not ever happen. I was rooting for him. I know the staff isn't obligated to enlighten us into their decision making, but that doesn't lessen my intrigue.

wadc45 and other people "in the know" have said that Gardner was involved in multiple incidents this summer. I think that makes it a little more than an assumption that he was getting in trouble repeatedly.

Which makes the above just as much of an assumption as anything else. Working hard to be a Buckeye doesn't end when you get on campus.

I guess it boils down to who you are willing to give the benefit of doubt to: An 18 y/o kid who earned an offer but reportedly went off the track when he was away from home for the first time (which has NEVER happened before when a kid goes to college) or the coaching staff.

How many times have you heard them say not a part of the 2013 team instead of, "No longer a *insert mascot*", or "No longer a member of this team"

Adding the 2013 is what made me question it.

But I'll just assume he's kicked off the team completely then.

I grant you the wording is a bit strange. It could also be a gentle way of handling the issue by not making things worse for him, no?

Makes my mind wonder more than anything actually.

I'm not giving the benefit of the doubt to anyone. I agree that Wade generally knows what's going on. I agree that Gardner had obligations he didn't meet, by virtue of the OOB charge alone. I just wonder if he wouldn't still be here if he were, say, Vonn Bell. Maybe not. But none of us know.

Just a comment OOB. This could be anything from "Don't arrest my friend"
to Ray Lewis.

I'm pretty sure we all know the answer to that. But, again, it sounds like Gardner was given stipulations to earning, and then maintaining his scholarship. Based on the word going around (from some pretty reputabe people), it doesn't sound like he was not living up to the second part of those stipulations. I have no problem at all with the staff doing this. Some kids are simply going to have to work harder to stay here. I think that's totally fine. Sounds like Mr. Gardner wasn't doing what was required of him and was sent home. If they simply didn't want him, they didn't have to accept his LOI in February...

Implying that Tim was treated differently because the recruiting services rated him a 3-star rather than a 4-star recruit means that you are either stupid or you are deliberately trying to cast negative aspersions on the coaches where none are warranted.

Agreed. I don't know what got him booted, and don't need to know.

Maybe it was a single, but very serious offense. Or maybe it was a series of relatively minor, trivial offenses like he kept wearing his gray t-shirt to practice when the coaches told him to wear white ones.

Whatever the exact reason, I trust that Coach Meyer felt that sending him home was a justifiable punishment.

In the real world
If two people both got hired by the same Fortune 5 firm
and one had a doctorate from Top 5 university and the other a masters from a pretty good mid-tier top-100 university... then the top-100 dude knows he has to do it better and cleaner than the other guy (didn't Stinger say that to Cruise in Top Gun) .. and it holds true in life

If you have the honor of being on the finest team in the land... it comes with great responsibility

Let me clarify: by "multiple incidents" I didn't mean with the law. Things like being late to team functions, late to summer classes, not performing in the off-season workouts, etc. The culmination of these things coupled with this latest transgression lead to his dismissal from the program "for the 2013 season". My thought is if he was gone for good the press release would not have read "for the 2013 season". It would have simply said he has been dismissed from the program. My guess is Tim will be given another set of guidelines by which he is to abide and if he is successful he might be able to rejoin the team in the winter/spring.

People who are insinuating he was dismissed for the season because of a lack of talent don't know what they are talking about and must think Coach Meyer runs his program like you run your NCAA '14 dynasty.

One way says, "I better be looking for transfer papers if I want to play football", the other one says, "I better work hard this year for next year."

If they worded it the same way to him, I'd want to know which item I should be doing right now.

Obviously, it doesn't affect me either way, I was just hoping someone had a clarification. If they don't, then I'll wait.
