Gibert said Williams is expected to narrow his list of college choices after the summer.

IMPRESSIVE ?13 PF DEVIN WILLIAMS DRAWING COACHES AT JAMFEST
April 22, 2012 by NBE Blogger
by Alex Schwartz

PITTSBURGH ? One of the players who really impressed during the second day of the Pitt Jam Fest was Devin Williams of the Ohio Basketball Club. The 6-foot-8, 230-pound power forward imposed his will down low and went to work down low in a victory over SEBL.

After the game, NBE Sports caught up with the class of 2013 standout from Withrow (OH) High School to discuss his recruitment.

Williams provided a school list that included Xavier, UCLA, West Virginia, Ohio State, Baylor, USC, Indiana, DePaul, and Illinois. He noted that there are others involved that he could not recall and claims offers from all of those schools except for Ohio State.

?13 PF DEVIN WILLIAMS STILL WORKING THROUGH RECRUITING PROCESS

June 23, 2012 by NBE Blogger

By Matt Whitfield

Despite having, by his estimate, over 70 Division 1-A scholarship offers, Devin Williams came into last week?s NBPA Top 100 High School Camp not being a household name for every recruiting junkie. Williams is a skilled big forward that can score inside the paint and out, and his 8.8 points per game average during the camp was example of that. At 6-fot-7 and 225 pounds he also causes matchup problems with his offensive versatility. He has a nice back to the basket scoring package. Williams is a good defensive rebounder and can make the right pass when the defense collapses on him. Those talents have rightfully so pbrought a lot of college coaches to look at him.

?UCLA, Xavier, DePaul, Duquesne, Florida, West Virginia,? rattled off Williams last week when asked which schools had offered him. ?It?s a whole lot,? Williams added. ?I have over 70 high major offers?that?s what I can remember off the top of my head.?

As far as visits Williams hasn?t fully indulged himself into the recruiting process at this point.

?I haven?t been on any unofficals. I?ve just taken visits to local school really. Once I get down to Montverde I can figure out what schools are really, really interested in me and I can make a top ten and start visiting some of the schools. ?

Devin Williams (Ohio Basketball Club 2013) ? The 6-foot-9 post has had a very active cell phone since June 15th hearing from Virginia Tech, Ohio State, Xavier, UCLA, USC, Louisville and Seton Hall almost on a daily basis. On Thursday the recruiting interest in Williams was very evident with head coaches from UCLA, Xavier, Florida, Ohio State, Pittsburgh and Michigan State watching as well as assistants from Virginia Tech, Louisville and DePaul. No one school from the group stands out to Williams at this point but he is looking for a school where the staff makes him feel welcome and gives him an opportunity to play early in his career.

Leaving Ohio, But Not OSU's Scope
July 15, 2012

Devin Williams figures he needs to fly with the Eagles before he can soar like one.

A well-rated 6-8?, 235-pound power forward, Williams built up his reputation as a top player in Ohio and the Midwest while at Cincinnati Withrow. However, he?s agreed to move on and spend his senior year at Montverde Academy.

The school is prep basketball powerhouse as the Eagles were rated as the top program in Florida last year. Montverde Academy will be among the elite squads nationally in 2012-13 as coach Kevin Boyle has a loaded roster that includes talented center Dakari Johnson, a 6-10 junior, and Florida commit Kasey Hill, one of the top senior point guards in the country.

Williams has a small window for school visits and readying for his Aug. 15 departure and move to the Sunshine State. In that two-week span he?d like to squeeze in an unofficial visit to Ohio State, even though he?s been there in the past to attend some Buckeyes games.

?Hopefully, I can get up to Ohio State and Xavier before I leave for Florida,? he said. ?Once I get down to Florida I should be narrowing down my recruiting list.?

That could take some work. According to ESPN.com, Williams already has offers from Cincinnati, Florida, Florida State, Illinois, LSU, Marquette, Michigan, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, UCLA, USC, VCU, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Xavier.

?I really don?t have a solid list,? Williams said. ?I just want to finish this July out. I?m just enjoying it right now.?

he believes an offer could be on the way from head coach Thad Matta.

?It?s close,? he said. ?I talk to (OSU assistant) Coach Jeff Boals a lot and Coach Thad. Maybe if I do get up there and visit they might offer me. It?s close.

?It?s a winning program and Coach Thad has been around (at Xavier and Ohio State) since I was 6 or 5 (years old). He?s a winning coach and I like the staff. I?ve been to some games and it was a great atmosphere. When I went up there I was just overwhelmed with all the people supporting everything, so I think that played a big part.?

If the offer does come, it?s safe to say OSU would vault to Williams? short list.

?It would mean a lot to me,? said Williams, who is ranked No. 82 in the 2013 class by CBSSports.com. ?I?m from Ohio, the No. 1 power forward in Ohio, and Ohio State is the big O. It would mean a lot to my city and my state and it would mean a lot to me.?
