'13 OH LB Courtney Love (Nebraska Verbal)

I'm not the best talent evaluator, but I'm not really that high on Courtney. I think he could be a good player, but not in the middle of an OSU defense.

In this case, I give Fickell's, Meyer's, and Whither's history with LBs the benefit of the doubt. Plus, the staff's at OSU, Oklahoma, USC, and Nebraska have good defensive backgrounds.

I saw them play live a few times, against STVSM, Steubenville, & in the final against Springfield Shawnee. He took bad angles and had trouble getting off blocks. The most impressive players on the Mooney team, IMO, were McWilson & Roosevelt Griffin.

But, there's a reason people are paid to do what they do and I'm not.

Always nice to get on the ground info, though. Think you'll be getting back to watch him play again this year?

Most likely. I'm a football junkie, so I make as many games as possible. After Claude Brown left Buchtel, former players haven't been granted as much access to the team and practices, so instead of watching mostly Buchtel games, I catch the top games weekly. Schedule/Weather permitting.

I used to be all about the star ratings back when I first started getting into recrutiting. But now I realize that Rivals/Scout/Espin mean nothing. If the staff thinks that Love is better and has more potential than Kimbrough and McCray, then so do I.

You mean a H.S. kid took a bad angle...man that usually never happens (sarcasm off) IMO coaches see a kid with great athletic ability that has great measuables as a H.S. kid.

Thats the reason you pay guys like Mike Vrabel and Luke Fickell...to coach em up. Obviously our staff along with a few other elite staffs across the country view him as the best LB'er in Ohio this year.
