Offensive lineman Ethan Pocic hits hard as the Lemont varsity football team practices on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011.

Lemont, IL ?

Ethan Pocic is open to brotherly advice. And why not? Older sibling Graham has been there before.

Throughout the current football offseason, Ethan Pocic has kept an open dialogue with the University of Illinois? starting center as it relates to recruiting.

During a series of college trips, which began last Friday and end on Saturday, Ethan Pocic had visits scheduled for Florida, Florida State, Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee and Ohio State. And that?s just a sampling of the country?s top programs with scholarship offers on the table for Lemont?s star offensive tackle.

?He was once in my shoes when he was looking at schools,? Pocic said of his older brother. ?It?s great to be able to look to him for any questions I have.?

After visiting the Gators and the Seminoles over the weekend, Pocic was with the Tigers on Monday and the Crimson Tide on Tuesday, while the Volunteers and Buckeyes filled out the remainder of the spring break week.

?It?s a lot of one-on-one time with the coaches along with getting a feel for the schools,? Pocic said. ?It?s been very tiresome and very hectic, but I needed to get out and see these programs up close. It?s pretty crazy seeing all of them in person.?

Even while Pocic, who is listed at 6-foot-7 and 285 pounds, is engulfed with choosing a college, he still remains focused on the upcoming senior year with the Indians.

?It?s one game at a time next season,? he said. ?We just need to keep working hard.?

Pocic is regarded as one of the top overall prospects for the class of 2013, according to Rivals.com. He is ranked No. 27 in the Rivals100 and No. 3 at his position.

?I really don?t have a time table for my decision,? he said. ?I?ll commit when the time is right.?

It's a tough call between Pocic and Anzalone for the most impressive offer list. I have all the confidence in the world that our staff will do everything in their power to make this happen. Ethan would give us some stability at the tackle position, along with Dodson, Decker, and Jimmy Byrne from the 2014 class.

Pocic ready to take more visits

By Eric Guimaraes
OL Ethan Pocic of Lemont, IL will be visiting LSU and Auburn this Memorial Day weekend. It will be his second trip to Auburn and first to LSU. "I like both schools," said Pocic. "I just want to check out LSU to see what it's like." Though his school does not have spring practices, Pocic is receiving coaches from several schools. Southern Cal, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Ohio State and Oregon have been by his school to talk to the lineman. "They all want me to come visit them," he said. Pocic is approaching 30 offers making it difficult for him to narrow his list. "I don't really know when I'll get to it," admitted Pocic. "I'm just looking for a place that I feel comfortable. I want to be comfortable with the players and coaches and I want to win some ball games." Pocic continues to hear from Clemson and would like to to visit the Upstate. "I just got to figure out when I can do it," he said. "They keep telling me they want me to come down." He does not have any preferences to conferences and distance to home will not be an issue. Pocic is unsure when he will be ready to make a decision. His offers include Clemson, Illinois, Purdue, Michigan, Michigan State, Tennessee, Arkansas, Arizona, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Iowa, Southern Cal, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Ohio State, Florida, Florida State, Auburn, Tennessee and Wisconsin.

Ethan Pocic says he's taking his time when deciding what college to attend. (YourSeason)

When Ethan Pocic thought he had prioritized his recruiting and was about to narrow his wish list to 10 finalists, Lemont's 6-foot-7, 290-pound offensive tackle received scholarship offers from Alabama, Auburn, Oklahoma, USC, Florida, Florida State, Oregon and USC.

At the same time, Michigan and Notre Dame, two schools that rated high on Pocic's list, filled their quotas for offensive linemen and no longer were interested in Pocic.

All of a sudden, as fast as Pocic could say "I can't pass up a chance to visit those schools," he revised his game plan--and his travel schedule.

"I've got to make more visits," he said. "I want to visit everywhere so when I make a decision, it will be the right one. I'm not sure of a timetable (to make a commitment), just whenever the time is right."

Over the Memorial Day weekend, Pocic plans to visit LSU and Auburn. During his spring break, he visited Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Auburn, Tennessee and Ohio State.

Pocic, who has 20 offers and is rated as the No. 2 prospect in the class of 2013 in Illinois by most recruiting analysts, said he still wants to visit Wisconsin, Iowa and Ohio State.

USC? Oregon? Oklahoma? "I'm taking it one day at a time right now. I want to take it all in. When the time is right, you'll know," he said.

What is he looking for? "A winning program, good tradition. I want to be comfortable with the coaches and players. I want to have a good relationship with them. I'm a left offensive tackle. I'm looking for a school that can prepare me for the next level," he said.
