'12 PA PF Amile Jefferson (Duke Signee)

Recruiting Updates:

Amile Jefferson (Friends Central 2012) ? Jefferson?s list consists of Ohio State, NC State, Kentucky, Villanova and Connecticut. None from the group particularly stand out to him at this point and he doesn?t have a specific timetable for when he will commit. Jefferson said that he?s thought he was decided a couple of times but slept on it and woke up with a change of heart. He doesn?t have any more visits planned but may stop at any of his listed schools to check out a game if the opportunity arises.

Hoops: Amile Jefferson still weighing scholarship offers

Amile Jefferson, a 6-foot-8 standout from Friends' Central, listed his five finalists after helping the Phoenix easily beat Neshaminy, 53-29, Friday night in the Jameer/Pete Nelson Philly.com/Rally Classic at Widener University.

The five, in no particular order: North Carolina State, Villanova, Ohio State, Kentucky, and Temple. Stanford is no longer in the mix, and Temple is a long shot at this point.

Villanova head coach Jay Wright and an N.C. State assistant watched Jefferson produce 19 points, eight boards, and five blocks against Neshaminy.

While Jefferson does not include the school among his five finalists, a source said Duke is also a possible destination. The senior and his father, Malcolm, have long been enamored with the Blue Devils.

DUKE FLIRTATION WITH AMILE JEFFERSON TURNS TO FULL COURTSHIP

January 11, 2012 by NBE Blogger

by Alex Schwartz

WEST CHESTER, PA ? Amile Jefferson, a 6-foot-8 power forward out of Friends Central (PA), is one of the nation?s elite basketball players in the class of 2012. In addition, he is one of the few top flight players still uncommitted.

Although Jefferson?s recruitment seemed fairly clear recently in terms of final options and perceived frontrunners, one school is making a late play for the senior: Duke University.

NBE was on hand Tuesday night at Westtown School (PA) on Tuesday for the showdown between Jefferson and Villanova-bound center Daniel Ochefu. Also in the stands were Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski and assistant Chris Collins, sitting just a few rows behind the Friends Central bench.

In addition to the representatives from Duke, there were at least three other coaches in the stands. Villanova head coach Jay Wright was in attendance, as was his assistant, Billy Lange. Rider also dispatched a coach to West Chester, as assistant Mike Witcoskie was also just behind the FCS bench.

Hoophall Classic Recruiting Update: Amile Jefferson, Friends Central
Published: Sunday, January 15, 2012
Jimmy Kelley By Jimmy Kelley

Amile Jefferson is one of the most coveted high school seniors in the country. The Friends Central forward recorded 12 points and five rebounds while playing against one of the best post players in the country in Kaleb Tarczewski of St. Mark's (MA).

Jefferson is considering a handful of Division I programs, but the two considered to be in the lead for his services are Villanova and Duke.

As recently as Wednesday, both coaches were seen at Friends Central to take in the young man's diverse skill set.

Jefferson has taken official visits to Duke, N.C. State, Ohio State, Temple, and Villanova.

He currently has no timetable for a decision, saying that it is "day-to-day at this point" and he will need to sit down with his father in the coming weeks to make a decision.

I did watch Amile a bit yesterday. He is very long and athletic. Definitely very quick for a 6'9" guy. Kind of like a bigger Sam Thompson, he's got to add strength and develop his skills. I doubt he would put up big numbers as a freshman if he were on one of the top teams like Duke or OSU, but he has the length and athleticism for sure.

Jefferson's decision. Don't be surprised if Amile Jefferson ends up at Duke.

While Jefferson remains quiet, a source close to the situation confirmed an SNY.tv report that the 6-foot-8 senior Friends' Central forward will likely choose between Duke and North Carolina State. The source added that Duke is the front-runner.

Jefferson is expected to make his decision soon.

The West Philadelphia resident is regarded as the nation's 18th-best college basketball prospect in the Class of 2012 by ESPN. He's listed as the 21st-best prospect by Scout.com.

The Inquirer's all-Southeastern Pennsylvania player of the year is a candidate to receive an invitation to play in the McDonald's All-American Game in Chicago on March 28. This year's participants will be announced Tuesday.

Friends' Central basketball star finally nearing a college decision
By Rick O'Brien
Inquirer Staff Writer

When the dust finally settles - and that is expected to happen in the next week or so - no one can say that Amile Jefferson made a rash decision.

Three months after most of the country's top recruits signed letters of intent to play at the college of their choice, the Friends' Central dynamo is still mulling his options and waiting for "that gut feeling" to arrive and signal his future home.

"I'm close to ending the process," the 6-foot-8, 205-pound senior forward said Wednesday. "It's about time I buckle down and make a decision.

"It's been tough on me. I go back and forth on it. I want to make sure I make the right decision. Hopefully, it all ends well."

Jefferson, selected Thursday to participate in the McDonald's All-American Game, set for March 28 at Chicago's United Center, said he would choose from among five schools: Duke, North Carolina State, Villanova, Kentucky, and Ohio State.

Late last month, Zagsblog.com, one of countless recruiting websites, reported that "at least one source close to [Jefferson's] recruitment believes it will come down to Duke or N.C. State." The post's headline read, "[Jefferson] is 60/40 Duke over N.C. State."

Said Jefferson: "I never said that. But things like that get out, or somebody twists your words. I'm still considering all five schools that I mentioned."

I speak regularly with one of the national guys and he thinks it will be Duke, but says it's not a done deal at this point in time.
Well, what does your "national guy" say about Tony Parker:huh: since it seems like we are not going to get Jefferson:(

I mean you do speak regularly with the guy.

I have a feeling the list above is pretty much the order of how they sit, though the first 2 are clear favs). Duke is the offer he most wanted. As long as he's not ticked they waited too long, it will be them
