The issues with the Trotwood school system & Mo Doug aren't exactly a secret in the Miami Valley.
It must be most problematic in the football program. Trotwood has for many years run one of the nicest cross-country meets in Ohio -- and cross-country is not a sport that attracts many African-American athletes (ironic given the international dominance of African runners in long distance racing). The PTO volunteers there were always very solicitous and friendly to all us crackers who hauled our kids to their terrific meet.

The kid's just repeating what's been drunned into his head for years.

The 800 pound gorilla in the room is ...academic qualification.

Bam is a great student and got offered.
Most of the other kids who may have had the talent were borderline academically.

You are kidding, right?

In the ancient wisdom of Confucious, which came first, the chicken or the egg? or in this case, which came first, the Glenville talent or the OSU pipeline......Did Ted Ginn Sr. offer a program where exceptional athletes could thrive and get scholarships, or did the Glenville academy offer the classes to get the kids qualified for college first? I seem to remember that Ginn gave the kids a chance, the coaching, and their own talent and hunger gained them the attention. Because of that talent, colleges sought these athletes out. Tress was raised in Berea, which is a tad south of Cleveland, and his Dad recruited there, so I'm sure that there was an affinity for great people (Tress Jr and Sr and Ginn Sr) to interact from the HS to college level.

Not surprising, as I don't think Trotwood and Glenville like each other very much. Both have been among the state's best in track & field for the past several years, and I believe the teams at one point got into a fight at the end of a meet (Roosevelt Relays, maybe?).

He said that he intends to announce his decision during the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl Game at Phoenix on Jan. 3. He'll play for the East team.

Jeez! That makes a third All-American Bowl Game. Are HS All-American Bowls going to turn into College Bowl Games?
